Re: Harlan October 5-8, 2017
Trust me folks,
Choose the Benham Inn 606-848-3000 if you are getting a hotel room. It may be about 5 mins further in distance, but you'll be glad. You can email me at [email protected] if ya want my reasons.
Re: Harlan October 5-8, 2017
The Electric/RV sites are already booked, so only primitive camping is left. Feel free to run a generator if needed and we pretty much have unlimited room to park and run a generator or primitive camp. Never ran out of room in 12 years...
Re: Harlan October 5-8, 2017
We also have two primitive areas that are quite large up on the hill also, with picnic tables, porto potties and bbq grills etc in addition to the overflow area near the RV sites that is.
It's really sad that you even have to go to some meeting to "let" people tell you how you can use YOUR own land.
Zoning was tried to be voted in here, but telling people how to use their land resulted in a lot of violence, so it never passed.
Glad you guys had fun, and nice meeting you guys.
I froze my butt off camping that night, even had a skunk (pretty sure) try to hump my head through the tent - I apparently stink...
Slept awful, but hey can't have a campground and not camp on it...
Funny thing....the other day I watch a 4 linked buggy with 44's take 5 tries to get up a short hill on the obstacle course....then a CJ7 with leaf springs and 38's walks right up it.
Mount Aire Hotel in Harlan (10 miles) has one room left 606-573-4660
America's Best Value Inn 606-589-4911 (10 miles) has lots of vacancies
Both said to mention I sent ya...maybe a discount?
All Cabins and RV sites are booked - always plenty of tent camping room.
We got the course set up for 3 classes - short course for low to mid 30 inch tires, harder longer course for those with some frame up to 40ish tires, and longest course for the unlimited class. Is one guy with 31's in a ZJ...
Don't have that problem at my place...6 grand in HD cameras tends to help though - that and not being right in the middle of town. Well I'm sure that beatin' my brother handed that guy a couple of years ago discouraged some thieves too.
Thanks for the kind words. There has been many to fix their rig here and get back out on the trails. People have been pretty decent about using the tools etc.
But at least once a year I have to buy all new screw drivers and those giant channel locks - why do they always take the giant channel...
