    Toyota 2wd transmission q's

So my little rusty '79 Toyota 2wd commuter truck is having a growling transmission, especially 1st gear. So I'm thinking of looking around Pull a Part for a used one, but how many different transmissions are there? Truck is a '79 SR5 long bed with a 20R and a 5-speed. Isn't there a tag that I...

    Gasket kits

Going to order up a gasket kit for the race jeep SBC. Any one brand better than the others anymore? Fel Pro, Mr. Gasket, or what?

    Ford 9" gear pattern

Probably should end up closer to .020 when done. That .012 was too deep as well.

Will a bad ground fry a coil?

Well, fried the starter last week, and it has not acted up since. :wtf: We're thinking the current dump with the starter shorting out allowed fuel to dump with no spark, hence the flooding. Running and starting like a champ now.

    Detroit acting funny?

That was my question as well. I'd be surprised if a Gearless survived that long. :redneck: And if memory serves correctly, I don't think there was a Toyota application?

    92 XJ 4.0 problem

Turned out to be a fouled spark plug.:eeek: Pulled the plugs to see if I could read what the injectors were doing, and one was goobered. Runs fine now. (For now anyway)

    92 XJ 4.0 problem

Just ran really low, and there was a bunch of goo that came out of the output side of the fuel filter. so about 39psi at idle? Might be the pump/pickup then.

    92 XJ 4.0 problem

So the roommate ran the fuel low on the 92 XJ, then it started having a surge/rough acceleration problem. It idles fine, but when you apply steady throttle, she wants to surge a bit. Did the fuel filter right away, but that didn't cure it. Fuel pressure is about 30lbs at idle, and up to...

    Where to find:

A little help from Zukkev. Also was a reminder I need to wrench more.

    Where to find:

It's handled. We'll just say I got a bit of tunnel vision, and overlooked the obvious solution. :looser:

    Where to find:

A 30mm thin wall socket? Putting on my driveshaft adapters, and I can't even get my socket through it. HF didn't have any. Or if someone near Everett wants to loan me one for about 20 minutes? :D

Will a bad ground fry a coil?

Still had spark from the coil when it wouldn't start today.

Will a bad ground fry a coil?

And now it starts again... Voodoo Ford:eeek:

Will a bad ground fry a coil?

It is dual tanks, and I've been running off the rear. When it first happened, I tried switching tanks, and still wouldn't start. Since then, I haven't switched to the front tank. Once I get it restarted, maybe I'll try that as well.

Will a bad ground fry a coil?

So back on this topic again, as the truck is still acting up: Started fine this morning, drove to Snohomish. Went for restart, crank, crank stumble (like a bad ground, which was why I suspected that) then just continuous crank. Unplugged injector harness, and it fired and burned off what I...

Will a bad ground fry a coil?

Update: we did get it started last night. Replaced ground cable and coil (just because that was problem before) plugs were soaked, so disconnected the injector harness and cranked them dry. Plugged back in and went. Still thinking I'll do the module just so I'm comfortable with it. And towing a...

Will a bad ground fry a coil?

Im thinking module on distributor then. That could trigger a weak spark.

Will a bad ground fry a coil?

So my 88 F350 is giving me some issues. Last week, she wouldn't re-start at a gas station. Had it towed to Auto Truck service, where they determined weak spark, and replaced the coil. Started ran and drove fine. I get down to Renton, and same thing happens. So I'm wondering did it fry the...
