I had heard different things about how to cut it I'll try that. I figured the dust couldn't be much better than fiberglass dust for you.

If the carbon's already been fused, you don't need to worry about the splinters... Its when your cutting the fabric, and doing your lay-up work that you need to worry about that...

X2, on the dust... That stuff is bad! Don't breath it in... Its a lot worse that fiberglass...
