Flange to deiveshaft?

How essential is it that the flange have a the little center lip the same size as the one on. The deiveshaft? It's in a buggy

It centers the drive shaft perfectly from wobbling, I've ground it off on off road rigs before that had unbalanced drive shafts with no issues, you may notice it in the road or high way speeds but the bolts are taken all the shear load

^^^This It is very important to have this as perfectly centered as possible.
