Oil smoke in 2nd gear

My 65 c10 with a 283 v8 and 3 speed smokes in 2nd gear while crusing/loping along but stops when I shift into 3rd gear, while I'm getting on it, it doesn't smoke as bad on at all. I just installed new valve guide seals and that didn't fix it.Sometimes it doesn't smoke at all. Any thoughts ?

If that's the original engine pull the road draft fitting out of the back of the block and put a 1 1/4" freeze plug in its place. Then install a proper pcv valve in one valvecover and a breather in the other. Easiest way is to get later model valvecovers. I used to have a few sets of OG script valvecovers I'd give you but unfortunately I scrapped them last year.
