We do not have a section for this... So we are just putting it out there...

With the crashing and deaths that took place over the weekend, once again we can not emphasize enough about safety. Proper equipment, will save your life in case the unthinkable should happen. Roll cages, helmets, neck restraints, fire suits, fire extinguishers....
As off road enthusiasts, we over look safety quite a bit. We are not racing, so we cut corners to save money.
Rock crawlers roll... sometimes down very steep hills... desert trucks flip, spin, and crash hard at speed... Mud boggers take heavy hits, roll over and submerge into the muck... At any time, there can be an accident that can change or take a life away.
Think about this when your planning your build. Even a 4 point harness is better than a factory seatbelt, but just wearing your seatbelt can save you!!!! A helmet can be picked up really cheap now and so can neck braces.

We all should have a fire extinguisher in our vehicles that is kept up to date. Not only for ourselves, but for other people we are driving with.

Simple, easy things we all can do to keep ourselves safe while out having fun.

Stay safe my friends

You're right, there is no section for this, and good info to have at hand. There's lots out there to consider for safety of those with you, and around you.....

No we do not have a section for this, but I hope that all of this information is common knowledge. Be safe and have fun is the perfect combo. :awesomework:

Yeah, when you fly on a airplane. Be safe. When you risk your life for fun, well thats on you.

True to all... But we have to disagree about the "common knowledge" if it is so common, why is it so uncommon?

We see a lot of really stupid stuff out there... We all do but say nothing. Darwin award?

But how many of you carry a medical box? Know CPR? have spare water and food? Flash light?

That quick run on the trail can lead to a disaster... If we just touch on the subject every now and then it could just save a life. Well worth it then!

We are not suggesting we all install roll cages, 5 point harnesses, and have helmets... But we see a lot of guys rock crawling with out even a seat belt... in an open buggy or "jeep" more than one person has been killed that way... Just saying...

My group has regular safety meetings when out on the trail. Somtimes more than once on the same trail. Ya can never have enough safety in the woods.

Great thread... can you enlighten us on the incidents?
Pretty sure he's referencing the Indy car race last weekend, where there was a fatality.

Regarding 'safety' as a whole, I've got 6 point rollcages, harness, fire extiguishers, first aid kits, helmets, MREs, flashlights, CB radio, Cell phone, matches, water and harness knifes. But NONE of that really matters. 'Safety' is a mental thing, not a phyisical thing. All that extra crap does is give me a little extra margin, nothing more.

A lot of safety is an attitude thing. If you have the wrong attitude, safety gear won't mean much.

Thanks you the safety post.
Sharing information on this subject is important.

I spent a few years as an American Powerboat Association safetey inspector at hydroplane and offshore races. Common sense is not something everyone has without some guidence.

One thing to remember safety can also be for first response to an incident. This can be anything from a knife to cut somebody out of a burning car to somebody who has had a sever roll with injuries.

Stupid stuff happens because there is lot of stupid people out there. Not much you can do about that.
