Supporting a doubler 203/205 setup

Any one have any experience with supporting a doubler setup with torque mounts/ cross member and how it all should be braced. Having a hard time finding information. Right now the doubler bracket is bolted to the skid plate with no crossmember for the trans with the 205 hanging off the back with no support and that's just not going to last very long the way I ride. This is on an 89 YJ . Any help would be awesome !

I used the oem trans foot and made this for the torque mount

Mines bolted to a crossmember at the doubled then another half crossmember is tied into that and bolts to the 203 mount. The front is only half for driveshaft clearance. My rear mount is bolted to the big round rear plate and goes up to a mount on top of the frame. A rear mount is obviously a must in my opinion since the setup weighs 240lbs. I'll see if I have any pics.

Is it really only 240? Moving mine around alone...I figured it weighed like 700 pounds

I hear ya. I didn't weigh it but that's what ORD claims they weigh.

In my toyota I built a stout crossmember that allowed both the 203 and the doubler to mount to it. In my current buggy build I only have the 203 mounted to the crossmember, while the rear of the 205 has a support brace to hold the rear weight.

I've been waiting on that beyond precise 205 mount but they only have the Chevy mount done and the Ford is in the works. Great piece there though. I'm almost debating on pulling it all out and just going with an atlas. I think I read the doubler weighs around 260 . I'm just running into a lot of issues with clearance in the tunnel and not sure it's worth the time to invest in this setup. Thanks for the feedback.

Great thread! Who has had issues with the 203 coming out of gear and how did the fix it?

Kinda hack, but I put a spring on the shifter lever.... At first I tried to fix it by replaced the dedent ball and spring inside the case which helped some. I just didn't feel like pulling the cases again, so I did the spring and told myself next time I had the cases out I would fix it.....That was back in 2006. ;D
