Here they are with a little explanation of what they are going to do. I personally think we need to support all that we can. I will see if I can get the E mail links for everyone that is needed to make it easer to send the E mails.

2012 Recreation Program | Grant Applications
Nonhighway and Off-road Vehicle Activities (NOVA) and Recreation Trails Program (RTP)

Grant No. Project Area Description DNR Contact
12-1067 Tahuya & Green Mt ORV trail and facility maintenance-This project will provide critical recreation trail and facility maintenance and repair in the heavily used Tahuya State Forest in Mason County and the Green Mountain State Forest in Kitsap County. The funds will support a five person, year-round trail crew to perform maintenance and minor improvements on approximately 100 miles of trail in the Tahuya State Forest, 13 miles in Green Mountain State Forest and eight different ORV recreational facilities in the two forests. Of primary concern are the heavily traveled 2-track ORV and 4X4 multiple-use trail networks and associated trailheads, campgrounds, and day-use facilities. Annually the forests receive over 250,000 user visits. Jesse Sims

12-1069 Tahuya & Green Mt Education & Enforcement- This position provides education and enforcement support for a safe and responsible recreational experience for ORV enthusiasts and other NOVA users in the Green Mountain and Tahuya State Forests. The area is open year-round and offers 213 miles of multiple-use trails, campgrounds, trailheads, and many miles of DNR managed roads. The funds will continue an established Education and Enforcement Program with two Education and Enforcement Specialists that patrol trails and trailheads, educate the public about proper trail use and public safety, give assistance to lost or injured riders, and protect DNR trust land investments. Jesse Sims

12-1070 Green Mountain Non-motorized trail development- This project will convert an abandoned forest road into a non-motorized trail segment within the Green Mountain State Forest. This will include designing approximately 6 trail bridges, 25 culverts, and 3 miles of trails. The road was abandoned due to fish blockage issues from undersized or non-existent culverts. The new trail will establish a sustainable pathway that has a gentle gradient, and is adjacent to beaver ponds and other scenic viewing areas. Jesse Sims

12-1072 Tahuya ORV acquisition and trailhead development- This grant is for construction permits, site acquisition costs and the construction of an ORV Trailhead in the Tahuya State Forest.

I share all your frustration, but a word of clarification. These are Maintenance and Operations budgets. By definition, they are not used for Capital (new construction) projects.

a little over 4 million $ pot that is up for grabs between all grants. about $ 850,000 is for M&O for DNR

Where are the 10.5 miles of trail from the earlier Reiter grant?

Will the next million dollars that they are asking for be spend just as effectively?

There is not enough money to fund everything being asked for.

Support grants coming form agencies/districts/people that either have a good track record or that you personally trust.

To make the best use of OUR money, we need to be selective with our support.

buy the materials and rent equipment.

WE will use that to build trails

Support the grants for the areas that you recreate in. It is that easy. We might not like sometimes how the monies get spent, but it is better than the alternative

5.2 + are being built right now, but then you know that already. guess you just like sturing the pot. Stop being a jack ass, it is better than a gate and that is what we need to remember. It is like so many other people are opening areas. I guess since you know it all. Step up and open an area and show us how easy it is
