Simpson makes a nice one for the NASCAR pit crews.

Now myself--I don't own/wear one. But I think its something that should be looked at in the hobby.

My only problem I have with wearing one. By nature in a vehicle its not "normal" to wear a helmet---and has never been known to be a "norm".

But when on a quad or bike in the same setting---its a norm. Now granted you have no protection from the surroundings on a bike or quad--but you are more likely to hit that what protects you......

I thought this was a good idea to discuss and figured why not...

I've been thinking about throwing my skate helmet in the rig, even though I don't normally run "hardcore." But just some of the bouncing around, and one accident I was in in the '49, I smacked my head on the side window and cracked the window. Also when I'm on a quad, the times I needed the helmet were the times I was least suspecting it.

And crash looks like spaceballs with a helmet:fawkdancesmiley::fawkdancesmiley:

I carry an old dirtbike helmet in the rig. I seem to put it on in the more extreme situations and occasionally I will wear it all day.

I have been thinkin I need one for each member of my family. It would be pretty dumb if I was saved by a helmet and my kid or wife wasn't. Usually when I put mine on the family gets out but full time wearing is a good idea.

Not that I specfically endorse REI, but I don't mind when they're not making any money on the deal. Hence REI Outlet. There are a bunch of snowboard helmets on closeout for under $40. Order online and pick it up at the store to get free shipping.

It will happen, but not overnight. Look at skiing, I've been skiing my whole life, and do some pretty stupid things on the slopes. Never wore a helmet growing up b/c it wasn't 'cool' or 'the norm'. Only the 'racers' wore them (b/c the rules said they had to). Trickle down technology. Now it seems almost everyone wears them, when you look across the lift lines, most people are sporting them. I'd guess the change really has been just in the last 5-10yrs.

I have a snowboard helmet i could wear. At this point I dont see myself doing **** so extreme as to need a helmet yet. Cage/seats/5 or 4 points are next on the list then I'll prolly throw on a helmet.

I wear one when they are required at the PNW races.

It actually was useful too. When I was doing the cross country, I got crazy sideways and smacked my head on the roll cage (this was before the 5 point harnesses were installed).

If I didn't have the noggin protector on, that would have been my head bouncing off the cage.

I wear my 5 points in my buggy all the time every time but I don't wear my helmet as mush as I should.

this thread got me thinking.. so today i wore my helmet all day at reiter..
we didnt do anything i havent done before i just wore the helmet all day. i forgot i was wearing it after awhile. never realized how much lil bouncing and jarring my head does. think im gonna start wearing it more.

i wear my bike helmet all day when out wheeling , after a few min I dont even notice it.
i haven't hit my head in the buggy so far but i have slipped walking on the trail and came real close to hitting my head
the GF gets pissed if she see's a pic of me in the buggy with out it too

with all the drama lately!
thought this would be a good topic to bring back up!!
i have wore my helmet the last couple times out,and the last time i wheeled was the core challenge so i had a full helmet on..
im liking wearing my helmet.
what other saftey things have others decided to start doing lately with trails getting harder, and what not..
i have always wore my seatbelt(some others according to other threads are not),but i think im gonna save up for some good harnesses when the wheeler gets back up to par..
