    Newb Jeep Q's

Shackle lifts suck out loud. They screw up the caster angle, making the Jeep more susceptable to bump steer, death wobble, and reduce the return to center. If you are planning on doing it for a girlfriend new to 4x4's, it's a good way to scare her away for good. You can fit 31's with no lift. 1"...

    Battery replacement in diesel rigs

My '87 is on only it's 3rd set of batteries, OEM and second set of Diehard Gold. My Stepdad replaced the OEMs in '92, and then bought a new pair in 2001. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and they sat there on his shop floor for 2 years until I got the truck. I trickle charged them, installed...

    IAC funds/grants

What do you want to know, specifically? Most of the time, the owner agency has to apply. They do need your information on volunteer hours for match and such. I have applied for several non-related federal grants and done pretty well, helped others with writing their grants, too. 64FJ40 and...

    T-case Help

Probably. You may have to change out the input gear. Novak tells the story: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np242.htm The input gear section is here: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np_nvg_input_gears.htm

    WTF is this???

That is interesting. We used to have a couple of 4x4 conversion Ford Van Chassis ambulances, and they used regular straight axles. They were lifted to fit everything, 33's would have fit fine in front.

    Miles and reliability?

'87 F-350, 6.9, T-19, ATS Turbo installed by the dealer prior to delivery, 263,000. Had the Injection Pump and injectors replaced at about 50K when they reformulated to LSD. Replaced the vacuum pump about 10,000 miles ago. I really need to pull the tranny and rebuild it, it's starting to walk...

I need to do the trunnion bearings on the 60 in my tow rig, it would be a wonderful time to take care of that, too!

balancing my tires with airsoft bb's?

Correct to that point. The tire moves toward the heavy spot, but inertia makes the loose BB's try to move as little as possible, so they move to the light spot in the rotating assembly. Somewhere on Innovative's site they had it explained better than that. Of course, they also explain why not...

    SM465 on the road

I had one in my now retired company truck. On the highway, even around our country roads it was just fine. It brought the suck in Portland/Vancouver traffic when I had to be in it. It wasn't even that bad in normal city driving, in my mind. But I've been driving a manual for 34 years now.

    Chainsaw use on the trail?

You don't need a pocket knife, any real wheeler can chew a traction surface into a log.

Clark can cut it...But who can bend it?

Here's pics of what I got. I spent a couple of hours cutting excess junk off with the angle grinder. I will be putting on a couple of angles that bolt to the side of the frame, and remounting the bumper. That will give me the towbar back. I thought about mounting the plate to the bottom of the...

Clark can cut it...But who can bend it?

Talk to pos97tj. I know he has 3/16" bent for rocker protection. I can take a couple of pics of what I have, not that I'm really that happy with it. My old M6000 mounts the same as the 8274. All I have is the winch plate bolted to the top of my frame rails, I hope to have some time this weekend...

    DNR update

One thing that may make some difference in people's thoughts is that this isn't a Public Meeting. It's a Meeting in Public. And yes, there is a huge difference. I spent a couple of days this week working with DNR staff, on an unrelated situation...

    Who still narrows FF's?

Dutchman Motorsports in Portland, and they also sell the tooling to do it yourself. Bucking bar, pucks, housing ends.

why do you need a dana sixty

So, most important, what are you going to do? I ran every trail at Elbe with my stock axles, '81 CJ-5. If you want a Jeep, get it, drive it like it is, then upgrade it for what you need. And remember, the advice you get on teh Intardweb is worth EXACTLY what you paid for it. And opinions are...

    4.3 wiring

Here's a pretty good page about putting a TBI into a Jeep. Much of it would apply. He has a pretty good section on how to thin the harness. http://www.bustedjeep.com/projects/junkyardtbi.asp
