We have been setting up a lot of 3rd members lately and have been using some plasma cut 3/8 arms with some scrap tube and scrap stock for the pivot with holes drilled crooked in the drill press.
I figured it was time to step it up to something a little more solid. I started with a block of 1x3 aluminum for the arms. I pushed some buttons and looked at a computer screen, pushed some more buttons and would up with this.
Cut them apart in the band saw, faced off the extra material and ran a radius tool around the outside.
Pressed some steel bushings in the pivot holes.
Then it was on to the next part. I had a piece of of DOM from some lower links i shortened for a buddy. I bored then out a little for a 1.4375 piece of stock I had laying around. I turned some handles, made some bright blue lights and would up with this.
