I'm debating on tires. Does anyone have a name, phone, email, website, etc for BFG Krawler stickies. Leaning towards 40x14.5x17. Prefer stickies.
These tires need to work in deeeeep mud and big rocks primarily. This is not for a trail tire. I've seen stickies do remarkable things in slippy slop.
Theres a good chance I'll be following ruts made by 44s, 49s, and so on. Since there is no way I can run those sizes, I need every advantage I can muster.
If that doesn't work, then I'm torn between the Goodyear Wrangler MTR w Kevlar in the 40x13.5x17 or the Pitbull Maddog 39x14.5x17. I understand the MTR is available in sticky or DOT, but the Maddog are all DOT.
I'm interested in opinions of the three, and PLEASE lemme know if someone has contact info on the BFG.
After measuring, I don't think that the 42s are in my best interest.
I already have 17 inch beadlocks.
My problems will be made worse, because the 40 BFGs are supposed to take 10"+ wide rims, and mine are 8.5.
Also, the Maddog web says they are really really heavy tires, noticably more than the BFG web says.
Thanks in advance
Tony
edit: Porter suggested also considering the Maxxis Creepy Crawlers. Looked on Maxxis website, and the 40" seem very intersting. Measure 40.0 tall, 13.5 wide, DOT approved with 'super-sticky' tread that's not recommended for street use. Sounds good. So I'm also considering these.
Waiting for monday to talk to the BFG people.
And I didn't know, but now believe that BFG is completely bought out by Michelin. Also, BFG doesn't administer their 'racer' program in-house, but has an outside agency take care of things.
