This is my atempt at a '85 Yota Truggy Build, the whole project has been done on a budget with the help of some friends and fueled by cold beer and thinking. Alot of the **** just happened to fall into place, the best advise I got on the whole thing came from SMEWHTGUY the weekend before I started started the back half. While teaching me how to bend and notch tube he simply said. "you can think and plan but sometimes you just gotta through some sticks of tube up, step back and decide if you like it or if it will work." the whole build went that way.

Started out life as a pretty typical 85 on 35's

305 SBC
TH350
NP205
Bed bobbed 14"
Welded rear
detroit in the front
rear springs up front and Chevy leafs in the rear

The frame was shot, typical rust between the frame and tank, plus it had started to tear in half.

So it was time for a back half

Provience came by to lend a hand and use the bender for his bed cage, we got the 205 rotated and the drivetrain fully mounted.

Pretty flat for not having to cut up the floor
IMG_20140413_150200664.jpg

Also got the front half of the rear shaft built and the pillow block bearing installed.

Also found this drawn on the underside of my cab. He said he used his **** to measure.... No wonder my T-case mount holes where to close together and his wife is always pissed off.... :flipoff2:

Made a shield for the suckdown winch and Got the tranny cooler mounted. I feel its way to tall, have some aluminum stock coming to make some spacers to drop it down.

Toyotas done.... Never mind the fact that the seats just sit in the floor, it has no front driveshaft, no cooling fan, one flat tire, and no exhaust.... She does burnouts.... That's done in my book....

The drivers rear tire had no valve stem so it just flops around, made for an interesting shaped black mark.

Built a front pack out of some trail gear 3" HD springs. Removed a leak for a total of 4, finally the front moves. . The springs like to go negative pretty quick so I need to build some bump stops.

Dropped the truck off at S&B Muffler and Brakes here in Gloucester, VA and Steve knocked the exhaust out for me.

Sits up nice and out of the way tight to the floor. Ran a Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler backwards. Has a nice tone, actually pretty deep for a 4.3.

Drops out at the rear of the cab.

Its been a crazy balance between money and time. Something's I could have saved money on by building. Like the link brackets but the time savings was worth it.

Provence came by and we knocked some stuff out.

Front shock mounts in
IMG_20141130_120227778.jpg

And suckdown winch fully installed and wired. Kinda loosly based it on SMEWHTGUY's setup

Been moving along a bit. Got some boomerang shackles on... The old shackles sat on the frame at ride height.

IMG_20141222_163929441.jpg

The new Sky shackles make it more better. I may shorten them up a bit though.

IMG_20141222_175042849.jpg

Also started in my hydro assist. Got the axle side mount mostly done, I want to brace it some more and got the tie rod side mocked up. I need to figure out a fancy bracket to make it work.

I would mount the end of the cylinder that goes to the tie-rod with the hole vertical instead of horizontal like you have it. It will travel soooooooo much better with the tie-rod and be much stronger than you currently have it.

It cycles fine. I can remove the ram at any point if travel without binding. If I set it the other way the mount gets hung up with other crap. The mount will be plenty strong. It won't be what it is. That's just a mock up/make sure it wouldn't bind.
