Looking for some opinions on a new torq converter. Trans finally took a ****. I'm having a new trans built and I'm needing a new converter. I started out with a 3200-3500 stall. It was fun in the beginning but I switched it out for a 2400-2700. And that was all while running a 4:10 gear and 43 sticky 44 bogger combo. I've switched to 5:13's now still same tire combo. I'm sick of the high stall bull ****. I want to get back to being able to some what crawl. The specs are. .40 over 350 a extreme energy off road cam 270/278-490/498 cam shaft. The power range is 1800/6000rpm. I'm running a 205 case. I want the smallest stall I can use and it be able to idle in gear. I've been looking at a 1750 from monster but I'm not sure if it will be enough. I'm just tired of having to hit **** wide open. If the cam shaft wasn't new I'd dam near switch it for a stock so I could run a stock converter. And the trans is a th350. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm running a 406/350 turbo/203/205 with Rockwells. I'm run the cam below yours 262/270 mine is a bone stock converter. No pushing through the brakes all even with all that gearing.

4900#
5.38s
43" stickies
th350
atlas 3.8
decently built lq4
cam is 230/224 lsa 112+2 .591/.581

stall is 2700 and really like it.

^^^^ I'd say the atlas makes a lot of difference. I've got a 2700 in it now and it's too much for me. I want as close to stock as I can get. I'm just don't want to get one to small and it not idle in gear. I'm just not sure what I need.

yeah, I don't notice it in low range. you notice it in high range but the motor makes enough power to not be a big deal. launches pretty good and moves out in high range

4500#, 425 HP 306 with a C6. 5.13 gearing with a 4.3 Atlas.
Cam is a Comp XE270 and the converter is a custom PTC. It stalls around 2500 in low and closer to 3400 in high range. It's a bit much in high, but in low it's perfect.
In high, you just need to go with it and not baby it. No problems crawling in low and temps stay below 175* even in summer.

I ended up ordering a 1750 from monster trans. I hope it will be enough. As long as it idles good in gear I should be happy with it. Thanks for the replies.

If you're running a 205 case and 44's, I don't think you'll be happy with that converter for crawling, it will rob all your power. The 205 is a great case, it's just not a crawling case, never will be. Slap a doubler setup under there if you have room or buy an atlas if you can swing it. Low T-case gearing will change your entire wheeling experience.
