Whistler!

The Slops are not safe, I repeat the slopes are not safe...:D

Looks fun, I got winded reading this tread and having flashbacks of my efforts to keep up with the 'H-BOMB':redneck:

Whistler, Take Two!

Went BACK to Whistler this weekend, for a 'quickie'.......yesterday was epic- warm, sunny, dry conditions, and learned much more of the upper mountain.
Original Sin, Blue Velvet and No Joke play very well together!!
I was SO excited to get back to Dirt Merchant to dominate that drop (it was half the reason I went back this weekend), and.....IT WAS CLOSED!! :booo: suckers! :puke:

Today was a rainy, sloppy mess and after one run, which included a 20 minute stall while the Red Bull race zoomed by :looser:, I called it a muddy, mucky day- welcome to winter ridin' in the PNW!! :cheer:

I'm super stoked to go back, and can't wait for Stevens Pass to open next SUMMER! :cool:

No one said you guys could keep coming up here. :flipoff:

I've always wanted to start downhill mountian biking, used to always check it out when snowboarding on the glacier...but I already have to many hobbies and not enough time :mad:

We're hoping to eek out one more trip before the mountain closes mid Rocktober for ski season....gonna be tight.We're white water rafting one day next weekend and H has to work the following weekend so time is getting short.

We'll be coming up a bunch next year(probably get seasons pases) so your welcome to join us Chris....find a friend who'll let you barrow a DH bike or rent one and I'll throw a quick parking lot tune on it,to get it running good, and we'll go RIP IT UP:011::011:

SOOOOO fun!!! Got my new bike a couple days ago and have already taking it to the DJ's for a little re-acclimation.......boy am I rusty:D Going out tomarrow for a push up at one of the Exits.......I might keel over:puke::D

This thread inspired me to stop and check out an old hang out.....tis no more, very disapointed....

The Fire Station?.....got plowed several years ago....10 years of digging down the drain....meh....C'est La Vie!!:D

I've got several DJ options pretty close to where we live now.....life is good:cool:

any pics this time?

ACK!! :mad: No pics!! :mad: :mad:

I took my camera up....and down. And up....and down...about a million times (ok, prolly more like a dozen). I just didn't want to slow anyone up by pulling it out. :looser: If Mauler and I get up there once more, we'll get a few photos for sure!

Actually, I did get some pictures of the dirt jumps...I can post those!

When I pulled the camera out a few days ago to check something, I though I had lost all pics! I just jostled the memory card loose, I found all my pics!! :cheer: It makes me want to get one of those Olympus camera that are shock resistant! :awesomework: I think our life warrants shock resistant documentation :;

i love bikes :011::heartpump::cool:

i can hardly wait for next season :drooling1: (and Steven's Pass bike park is still on schedule to open next summer...! :cheer:)

PS- I recall you keeping up just fine, Jack... :D

So. I get up there a little "early" last Friday, and Mauler says, "Hey, go session the DJ's for a while" (well, he texted it to me from work, he was not there to egg me on in person). So, I go on a recon mission and I stumble across these:

Just to be vague I'll say the closest one:; Won't be much fun for a young buck like yerself......just a bunch of old,slow retirees running "B" line and maybe take a look at Idaho/Gem state.Gonna be pretty tame.....trying to ease back into things w/out getting hurt....I live in Lynwood and have DJ's and the like(Jap Gulch) pretty close to my house so we should get together for some sessions......I'll be going quite abit afterwork on the weekdays.

Just got back..... Super fun!! Pretty big group of people but still got in two laps.We stopped and sessioned a couple sections and MD69 stepped up and stuck a log drop a couple times that stretched her limits abit:awesomework:

I kinda hit the wall about 2/3 of the way up for the second lap......friggen tired but gathered my mojo back up with a rest at the top and felt good for the Gem state trail.

OK. So it's not technically about "Whistler"...however, I did a log-drop up at Jap Gulch today that I'm so excited about! I've been eyeing it for a while, and it's un-do-able on my XC bike, but the DH bike, it's no biggie....yet it eluded me until today! I measured it a hip high (aka- 3'!) :cheer: :cheer:

It's 3' to flat, but I'm still pretty stoked! :awesomework:

It's all in preparation for the next trip to Whistler....in two weeks! :D
