    1991 VW Golf no spark

make sure the dizzy is turning. a broken t-belt will cause a no-spark condition. check for +12v at the coil with the ignition key 'on' no +12v = no spark. try a jumper wire to the batt + terminal (hot wire the car lol)

WLL overhead lifting vs WLL winching?

True. If it's rated for overhead lifting, it is more than adequate for winching.

    Marlin Crawler

Their parts are awesome. My experience was good, I ordered up a handfull of front axle seals and they showed up in four days, along with a decal and whatnot. I get a christmas card from them every year.

Adding an additional fuel supply fitting

on my buildup i'm using two small 5psi (carb type) electric fuel pumps to supply a surge tank, then taking my main EFI pump feed off the surge tank. Haven't done it yet, but shouldn't be too hard. Also, quick note that circa 1990 VW jetta/golf (digifant, not CIS) used a similar arrangement...

    Winch Maintenance

When you respool your line spool it up under as much tension as you can. That way when you need to use your winch and only unspool 1/2 of the cable (or whatever) your line won't dive beneath the top layer and jam up like a mofo.

    Toy Brake advise

you may have better results with Aisin hubs than the Warn ones though. The Aisin ones are retained with the cone nuts and generally hold up better around here. As always, your mileage may vary.

    Toyota Rod and Main Bearings

That's all we ever use around here on Toyota engines. However, using Toyota bearings requires sizing them properly, as they're select fit. and, I definately agree with most of what trainwreck says.

    T-Stat the great debate!!!

The thermostat is also a valve, on a lot of import engines, there is a 2nd part to the valve that CLOSES when the thermostat opens up to direct water flow. typical thermostat without 2nd valve thermostat with 2nd valve, notice the disc at the end that the picture above does not have. This...

    Oil pressure isolator??

No, once the isolation oil leaks out, the thing wouldn't work anyways. You'd have to refill it. Bandaid, expensive high tech solution to a low tech problem. The problem is the faulty gauge. Throwing money at it isn't going to make it better. Replace the gauge with a better one, or just get...

    Oil pressure isolator??

then the isolator would not work, because the isolation oil would leak all over his leg. get a cheap electric gauge, or simply put in a dummy light switch and a dummy light.

    I need opinions please...

I'm on 33" km2's and have had my locrite for a couple years, no problems. But I don't bind up my **** either. Stock axles. Stock 4.10 gears. properly set up gears and stuff.

    Roll over this AM

No, the oil sits in the head, then goes into the PCV/breather system via the valvecovers and directly into the intake, then gets burned. Hence the big billows of smoke. Any car that goes shiny side down is an instant total loss. They won't be driving it again. However, after the wreckers buy...

    winch overheating?

My winch runs 2/0 (double-zero) cables from the battery to the solenoids and then to my old m8000. Upgraded body and winch grounds to the same 2/0 and running military type battery terminals. Solenoids mounted to right-side inner fender, just behind the battery and fusebox of my 84 pickup. My...

    question about rock lights

Haha, we only use Bosch relays... I forgot to specify the brand  And we use fusible links instead of fuses and holders because we're cheap and simpler = better. A fusible link will allow for momentary overloading without melting as well. But in a full short-circuit situation, it will...

    question about rock lights

30A relays are something like $5 from car stereo shops. if you're concerned about current, run 2 of them. But a 30A relay will work fine for a 30A load. They have a bit of safeguard designed into them. 14ga wiring should work fine for all your lighting. Just double-up the wire from the...
