Not it, the one near me has no body damge and it's a light brown color.

I don't know, it just seems to use quite a bit of oil, but it's been sitting for almost a year so I figure the rings are a little sticky. Think I'll try the 20-50 and see what that dose for it. I just don't want to run too heavy and not get oil to the valve train.

Thats what I was afraid of. I wonder how long I can keep it running for now though. I don't have the time or money to pull this thing apart right now. Somehow I doubt they are cheap. I wouldn't mind some gt40 iron heads, with an explorer intake it would do ok.

Water flows ok, the thermostat has about 6 holes I drilled in it. The missing has been a problem for about a year now and this just started.

I bought an 87 with the head off the motor and pretty similar to what your describing except it's carb'd and the interior was gross for $450. I was told by others it was a good deal. Hope that helps.

I bet that's it then. I thought the ports were round on the intake side of the early ones though and square on the later year ones? The 2 heads look the same except for height. It's an 87 block at least.

I'm putting a new head on my 22r and the timing chain is so tight I'm afraid it's going to bind up and break when it's running. I measured the diference in the head heights and the new one is taller. I'm guessing it's never been machined or anything like that. Are there any longer chains I can...

For the timing chain the chain, tensioner, both guides and both gears were replaced. The only thing I can think of is the bottom gear on the crank is walking forward. But I don't understand how it can do that. I think I used a fel pro head gasket or something. I retorqed the head bolts and it...

I'm pretty sure the head is junk so I'm not too worried about it. It's the timing chain hitting the cover I'm worried about.
