What wt of oil on tired 22re

I don't know, it just seems to use quite a bit of oil, but it's been sitting for almost a year so I figure the rings are a little sticky. Think I'll try the 20-50 and see what that dose for it. I just don't want to run too heavy and not get oil to the valve train.

Yeah, cause telling me to repower my 94 mustang with a chevy powerplant really helps me get to work.:looser:

    5.0 Question

Thats what I was afraid of. I wonder how long I can keep it running for now though. I don't have the time or money to pull this thing apart right now. Somehow I doubt they are cheap. I wouldn't mind some gt40 iron heads, with an explorer intake it would do ok.

    5.0 Question

Water flows ok, the thermostat has about 6 holes I drilled in it. The missing has been a problem for about a year now and this just started.

    5.0 Question

I've got a 94 302 HO in my mustang and it's my daily driver. It's been over heating lately and it seems to push the coolant out in to the overflow but not suck it back in. Today it boiled over pretty good while I was in Ballard and I let it sit for awhile and added some more water to it. Drove...

    Timing chain

I bet that's it then. I thought the ports were round on the intake side of the early ones though and square on the later year ones? The 2 heads look the same except for height. It's an 87 block at least.

    Timing chain

I'm putting a new head on my 22r and the timing chain is so tight I'm afraid it's going to bind up and break when it's running. I measured the diference in the head heights and the new one is taller. I'm guessing it's never been machined or anything like that. Are there any longer chains I can...

    Condensation in valve cover

For the timing chain the chain, tensioner, both guides and both gears were replaced. The only thing I can think of is the bottom gear on the crank is walking forward. But I don't understand how it can do that. I think I used a fel pro head gasket or something. I retorqed the head bolts and it...

    Condensation in valve cover

I'm pretty sure the head is junk so I'm not too worried about it. It's the timing chain hitting the cover I'm worried about.

    Condensation in valve cover

So no one has any ideas?

    Reiter Trails Cleanup OCTOBER 7th

No, but it did make the head gasket fail. At least that's what I'm blaming it on.

    Condensation in valve cover

I did replace the guides and when I got the truck it had a blown head gasket. I checked the flatness as much as I could and it seemed ok so that's why I'm thinking it may be a crack. The timing chain is the strange part. I just don't understand why it's rubbing right next to the crank. Any ideas?

    Condensation in valve cover

So, I've got a 87 22r that after warmed up and shut down, then restarted after maybe 10 mins puffs out a big cloud of white smoke and smells like antifreeze. So far there is no water in the oil, yet anyway. I pulled the plugs and they all look ok so I'm not sure if it's a head gasket or not. It...
