Got an older warn 8000 winch for free, and it looks like the selonoids are in need of replacing. I couldn't find any warn replacements?? I found a pack of 4 for 60$ but they are made in china. :eeek: anyone used them before?? It's going on a trailer so I'd prefer it to work every time.:redneck:
Actually the motor runs great, no noise, and lots of power. I took it out the truck was for parts, and i pulled the pan just to see. And I found this...
Is there a source online where I can find out some more about installing thrust washers? I dont know too much about them, and I need to put a couple back in that apparently fell out. Thanks
ps. I searched on pbb and found out that crash has done a few maybe he can chime in?
I planned on getting a whole kit, even though this one seems intact. I also need a new timing cover...But like i said I need to know if this is where my noise is coming from. I would hate to get it all back together and then it didnt fix it
Ok so I got the timing cover off and inspected it more closely. it has a few wear marks and scuffs where then chain hit it...It was also welded so im assuming someone has been in here before. Another interesting thing is that all the guides were in place still...:eeek: So the piece i found...
I have never broke a chain or guide, so i dont know what its going to sound like. I think the chain was hitting the timing cover and thats what the sound is...
Ok so I think I found the issue...I pulled the pan and what do I find??? A bunch of plastic, and couple chunks of metal...So im pretty sure its the timing chain. I could see a big chunk missing from the timing cover..see the pic...
