hell, i sold a chevy 60 front and a 30 spline 60 rear 2 years ago for 1400 bucks... running a hp44front/9 inch rear now. less weight. 60 rear had smaller axles...

this is funny... a 9 inch has 3 pinion bearings. that makes the pinion stronger. it has more tooth contact, too. a 9 inch 78-79 Ford has 31 spline axles. a dana 60 has 30 spline axles unless you find one of the rare as hens teeth 35 spliners.. the 9 inch has a lower pinion. the 60 has a...

looking at the photos here : http://www.campbellenterprises.com/aengineparts.htm gives me the idea that you can remove the oilpan without endangering the timing cover too much, just like a small block chevy.

you may have to fill the face of the case, and redrill a couple holes, but if you do, itll bolt up.

I hate to say it, but the more advanced you get in wheeling, the more money it costs you. You didnt have to get the big springs. someone suggested a shorter shackle that may help your situation. I would try that before ANYthing else.
