    I would keep it if possible. Could you run the fan off the same switch as the radiator fan? That way it shouldn't be on all the time and if the water is hot the oil in theory would be also.

    That's what I would run or aluminum 5.3. I will be watching this close. I live down the road from you and also just picked up a flatfender to start tinkering with.
