Attention xj buffs......

I'm getting ready to purchase some wheels for my xj. Its going to have a 4.5 inch short arm kit on 33 12.50, Nothing special. how much backspacing can I run while keeping the tires out of the controle arms, yet keeping it as narow as possable? Fenders won't be a problem bc they have already been clearanced.

Thanks in advance!

That answeres my question then. I was thinking I could get them closer, but if 3.50 rubs barley than closer won't work. 3.5 inch bs it is. Thanks!

Mine also has 31's, but mine do not rub the arms, with 3.75" backspace...:scratchhead:
Are you sure it's hitting the arms hickboii, or are you sure the rims are 3.5" backspace??:eeek:

thats what i was thinkin.
not sure if zj and xj are the same arm angles, but i ran 3.75 with 33x10.5s and maybe just barely rubbed. runnin the same wheels with my 14.5 wide swampers and just threw a few spacers behind the stops:redneck:
where are youguys finding 3.5 BS wheels for a good price?

Now that I had an idean on bs I have trying to lock down a good price but most of the suppliers I have been loocking at only sell a 4" bs in cragar soft 8's any one seen a crager soft 8 with a 3.75 or 3.50 bs?

Yes I'm sure they are rubbing and yes I'm sure they are 3.50 backspace. View attachment 52421
I ordered them on jegs.com. They were 49.99 each they are the steel d window wheels 15x8 and I'm running 31x12.5 15 cut thornbirds. Also I have a couple old steel wheels laying around if you want one for a spare instead of buying a new one. They are a little rock rashes but still hold air.

Those tires have one helluva lug stickin' out...Even for a 31...is it hitting only on one side, or both??? Might be a track bar issue, or the steering stop needs adjusting...

Wheels purchased!!! Found a soft 8 nock off. Summit and jegs had the best prices.
15x8 3.75 bs black matt finish with center caps....I'm stoked. Thanks for the help guys!

I tried to center the axle the best I could but it's only by eye. I thought it was rubbing about the same until I looked at it today. I have the RE adj track bar so I guess I just need to work at centering it a little better.
