Went on a fun ride up around manastash and quartz mt last weekend, not really wheelin since I did it on 2 wheels but its still a fun time in the woods. I started out near Bald Mt./2 pt springs area where I camped and headed to manastash lake at around 8am. Weather was perfect and the place was empty. I dropped down into the lake and headed to Lost lake then turned left too the shoestring trails. Took the 1207 single track almost all the way to Quartz Mt.

On the way back I chose to not ride the same trail twice and take the manastash ridge trail to the tipover trail. Good god that is a rocky bitch. I popped out up on the moon rocks and dropped back down to my camp. Total trip time was 7 hours with lots of stops for pics and water and such.

I had a blast, met some cool folks and seen some new country I had not seen before. Great trip!

That cabin belongs to a friend of mine, an old gold mining claim started by his grandpa. Jeep trails are the worst for bikes, a lot of big rocks and roots. The single tracks are much smother for a bike. I see you make it into the shoestring burn area, it got hot in there. That area is my back yard and fun trails even if you ride them every year.

Ya I cant remember that big medow that the cabin was in, there was 2 of them kinda close by with a few other little shack looking things along the road area. Interesting place. It was there that I lost the single track trail that the map says goes up to Quartz. I ended up taking the 3100 road for about 1 mile to the summit.

I had a blast just putting around at my own pace, but that freakin Tipover jeep trail was a bitch... And I also did not know that the Manastash ridge trail turns into a foot trail only at Rocky Saddle. I almost rode off the end of the cliff on that one...

There's no bike trail from that cabin to quarts. The Hereford meadows trail ends at the cabins. I almost rode off a cliff on the west side of rocky saddle the first time I got to it. It kinda draws you in and you run out space real fast. It used to be a legit bike trail but I think it went away when Tipover trail was re-routed. I'd try it on a trials bike.:eeek:

Ya that west side of rocky saddle has 2 big skid marks.... :eeek:

trials bike or MTB, once you got down the first 12' drop off I think you could make it.

And neither of the skid marks are from a bike.:haha: On the other side of the saddle (funny rocks side) are two partial cabins that hunters fix up and make pretty nice during their hunt. There are a lot of cabins/shacks up along the bike trails.
