Long story short is we have a 76 Kenworth cabover with a strange battery setup. The guys that pulled the batteries are no longer here and I can't figure out how to get juice. Has some weird isolator or very large solenoid in battery box that two posts hook to on the left of the box and on the right of the box two cables go to the starter with one being a hot lead and the other appearing to ground to the back of the starter.
Appears to be an odd style 24v system.

Does anyone around here do onsite electrical work? 3 minutes outta North Bend on 424th.

Thanks!

From what I remember farting around with an old truck with my grandpa years ago, it should have had 4 6v batteries to get 24v for the starter. You would have 2 sets of 6v batteries wired in series to get 12v each (which powers all the 12v stuff). The 2 banks making 12v would be wired in series to that series parallel switch you are talking about, that is what would get you 24v for the starter.

That shouldn't be a problem. You would just need to find the correct wiring diagram for the switch.

Here is an example of one I found, I'm not sure how universal those series parallel switches are.

Unfortunately this one is nothing like that.
Just gotta keep trying combos I guess.

Let the lead fly!! :redneck: lol

Do you see a make or model number on the switch? Might be able to google it and find a diagram.

It was a failed attempt today. Going to get 4 more batteries & hopefully a guy well versed in that system for Saturday morning.
