Earlier today a deal was finalized between E.C.O.R.S. (Endurance Championship Offroad Racing Series) and Carolina Truggies of Charlotte, NC for a full season sponsorship of the B Class Championship series.

The ECORS B class historically has been a Street Mod/ Pro Mod style Vehicle and this year we have opened the doors just a tad to allow even more wild innovation among the competitors. Seeing the direction that ECORS was heading with the B class, Alex and the team at Carolina Truggies reached out and expressed interest in being a part of the series. After several conversations and a meeting it was clear that the current direction of Carolina Truggies was a nautural fit for the factory mod world of the ECORS B Class.

We look forward to working with Alex and company this year and can't wait to see the innovation and creativity they inspire. To prove their committment to the series one of Carolina Truggies' own will be racing a full schedule in a modified Jeep Wrangler in the B Class points chase.

Earlier today we caught up with Carolina Truggies to discuss the prize offering they were bringing to race one. Alex had the following to say, "Well no one doesn't like cash, so to start the year off right let's lay some cold hard cash on the line right out of the gate. [In addition to the normal ECORS payout and any other contingency money that a team may be running for,] Carolina Truggies will offer up $500 cash to the winner of the March 17th race at the flats in the B Class event. In addition to this $300 will be paid to 2nd place and $200 to 3rd. All cash and all you have to do to earn it is drive fast." Remember, this is all in addition to the normal ECORS payouts!

These payout committments will be subject to minimum participant numbers, per the ECORS payout table, like all prizes.

Please join me in welcoming Carolina Truggies to the ECORS sponsor team, and do not hesitate to contact the guys for all your offroad needs.

Remember guys, Class B is not the new Modified Stock class. This means you are allowed some substantial modifications and still qualify for Class B.

Class B:
no tire size requirement
no axle swap limitations
no engine swap limitations
limited suspension link and setup restrictions
must be built from a production vehicle

www.ecors.com for rules about Class B rigs.

Class B rigs are capable of the Unlimited class course but are a little slower as the typical rigs have been linked with high HP motors and stick tires but built from a traditional production vehicle. This class has been opened up substantially to allow a wide arange of vehicles to keep Class B competitive.

check us out and register for the season. March 17 is the first race of the season at The Flats in Marion, NC. It will be fast , technical, and fun!!!

2.1 mile course! ran the GPS on it today. And, we have multiple lines for the difficult sections so you can pass on an alternate trail/line.

Going to be a great race! Also added a gap jump and some whoops :D

Don't forget the Hill Climb Challenge Saturday afternoon! $10 to enter, 100% payout with ECORS matching the pot up to $200, open to anyone with a helmet and at least a roll bar! We were on the hill tonight and its not easy but not the hardest. There will be some carnage there and some good air with a soft landing! $10 each, 3 runs, fastest run of the day wins! Winner take all!

UPDATE:

We spent several hours yesterday getting things ready for next weekends race.
We are extremely grateful to the Rock Corps for having us back for our 3rd season of Racing at The Flats in beautiful Marion, NC.

The support is always great from the locals and I expect this year to be no different.

Racers historically have loved the facility layout, but if we have heard one complaint its that the woods area usually lead to a follow the leader with few opportunities to pass. With that in mind and in our continuall effort to always provide more excitement, more challenge, and to truly live up to our moto, Racin' At Its Best, we have added a new element this year. While we have experimented with this some in the past, we intend to more frequently incorporate this added dimension of skill, opportunity, and excitement this season.

In areas where passing opportunities are limited we will be opening up bypass and alternate lines. Sometime the shortest line may be the most challenging, others there may be two almost equally difficult and length lines that will allow drivers to spend a little more time pre-running and practicing strategy and then putting that strategy to the test on race day.

With these multiple lines come a few points I want to clarify:
First for pre-running and race day the markings may initially look confusing. IF you see a sign pinting two way, we do not intend for you to cut your car in half and try both. Two arrows will indicate an option. Here are a couple of real examples from last night:

In this case A class will have to go to the right at this intersection. However both B and C class will have the option of going left or right (don't worry going right wont take them down the "A" trail for long as they will soon detour off onto another section.)

In this instance as C approaches this intersection they can either continue up a short but steep and tough climb or make a left and go around through a faster but longer option.

These are only two examples of several throughout the course. Pre-running time will be a premiium and knowing the course may be the difference between hugging the trophy and watching from the crowd.

Since it is not feasible to widen every trail on the property to two lanes we think this will provide some opportunities for every driver to win regardless of starting spot. Also for those who were in attendance last year, you will be happy to know that the "mud pit", had a track dozer driving across it yesterday. The area has been repaired permanently and should be ready for most anything you guys or the weather can throw at it!

THE HILL CLIMB
As I think everyone knows Saturday night we will be having a winner take all jackpot hill climb challenge. This should be a fun challenging hill that most can make it and prove to be a true speed race, with just enough of a ledge/kicker to make it a little exciting. I took a few pics looking up the first stage of the hill. The hill climb is a two part obstacle consisting of a first longer climb, then a short flat shoot and then another smaller hill to the top. This is a look up the first hill.
This should provide some fun spectator entertainment and some classic video to make the rounds for years to come!

The pics really dont do the length justice, and the ldge 2/3rds of the way up should prove fun!

Here shortly I will be uploading a Google Tracks image of the course as well.

Stay Tuned!

As always, dont hesitate to give us a call or email if you have any questions. Can't wait to see everyone next weekend.

We are ready!

That hill climb is going to be awesome!

18 registered for Class A
6 for Class B
6 for Class C
3 for Class U

B and C run the same course this go-round. B is so advanced, they can run the C course, but typically not quite as fast...
