Effing snow in the ham

I left work at 10:30 yesterday morning went and got my mom and left her work at 11:20 took us a hour to get 1.5 miles. the radio kept saying that 75 south bound was locked up but 75 north was decent so we tried it and finally made it to our exit (5 miles) about 45 min later. From there we had to go through Collegedale Tn and stop at the Tractor Supply to get the cows some sweet feed. Finally made it home at 3. Took almost 5 hours to go 18 miles. A trip that takes me normally 25-30 minutes took 5 hours. Apparently Chattanooga forgets how to drive when the white stuff starts falling from the sky. Picked my Dad up and we went and rode the back roads until well past dark. Would have kept going but it was getting cold in the jeep with no top and the doors weren't really helping anything. Talked to a friend of mine from Atlanta and it took him 12 hours to get home. It was crazy. I did learn that a Jeep won't pull a 2500 Dodge out of a ditch on ice.

Finally got home, spent the night at the parents house which is up the street from work. Walked back to the shop, aired down tires on the toyota and peeled out on backroads. About 1 1/2 hours later I pulled in the drive with a failed clutch master cylinder, 2nd gear and slow, but I made it. Theres a ton of vehicles parked everywhere and a few morons hauling ass.

We'll be moving like normal in a day or so.

My buddy following me with chains on his civic took this picture.

lil snow really messes yall fellers up! :flipoff1:

Not sure if y'all southern dwellers could hang up here in the snow. Yea it sucks but still a bunch of fun to play in..lol

My terra grapplers are awesome on some ice and snow. I took a work trip to Cleveland tn and it took me 5 hours to get from Cleveland to Huntsville.

Got the wife to get out on the roads today for a trip to Dunlap the roads werent bad at all took the highway down to Dunlap but the back roads on the return trip. Made me glad I picked up those BFG Rugged Terrains there were a few icy spots and one intersection where you had to have four wheel drive all in all not to bad.

Re:

I'm from nc. Had to come to leeds for work. Left hickory at 10a yest. Hit atl around 230. 85 & 20 were gridlock. Got out of atl around 1a. Made it to pell city where i20 was stopped. We slept in the car off the highway.

This morning we tried 53n, 174w, & another road that were all jammed. Took Wolff creek out of town and made it to Leeds. Sitting here at the hotel lobby hoping to get a room.

Passed a few 4x4s in our fusion.

Can't say I've ever seen it this bad & i tend the travel in the snow often.

Thinking of heading north on 59 to Knoxville & hitting 40 to go back home tomorrow afternoon. Anyone know if that should be clear?

Took me 4'5 hours to do my normal 70 minute work commute. Aired the two outside tires down to 20psi or so and let the stroke chug along. As long as I could keep moving my work truck handled the roads fine, it was just when u come up on all the white knucklers that things got edgy. Been out in it off and on today with the kids. Really wished I had of ordered the windshield for the teryx last Monday instead of this past Monday though! Like 85Toyo said though, the snow packed down and quickly turned to ice and geeked everything up.

Through Alexcity was starting to thaw late this afternoon. Was a solid sheet of ice this am though and was that way coming from sylacauga yesterday.

Holy S#!^, Go to work in 2 feet of snow. Temps are finally above single digits ( first time in 2 weeks). Thank God they gave me a essential pass
:cougar:ial work pass so I can at least go to the bar when the state closes the roads!!!!!

This is 75N about Lafollette just north of Knoxville for those worried about traveling north. I recall one feller having a concern about heading north out of Alabama.
