Looking for a new Tool Box

I have a small 4 drawer Kobalt roll around and am very please with it.

MUCH better box than the Crapsmans I looked at this past weekend with their thin-ass sheetmetal and wobbly drawers.........

Go buy a used mac, matco, snap on, cornwell off craigslist. They come up for sale often in great shape for 1/3 of what they cost new.

Just in case you don't have one. May be more and better out there.

Civicmindedex79 that is the coupon I have. I am going to harbor freight tomorrow and probably will be coming home with a new box. I really appreciate all the help from everybody. I have looked at craigslist and I still can't hack the price for a used snap on or matco box. They are nice but I will not be using it that much so I cant see paying that much. Anyways I am saving money to high steer the jeep to me that is more important. I will post a picture of what I end up with.

There's no way I'd buy one that costs more than the US Generals from HF. You won't be disappointed. Try em out in house and you'll notice right off the bat that they are built extremely well for the price. :dblthumb:

Haven't seen it mentioned in this thread yet, but I have a Montezuma box in 46". Got it at Orscheln's for $479.99. I work at a heavy fab shop and work out of it every day. Found nothing but good reviews about them and it seems very well built. I couldn't be happier with it. They make a top box for a little over $300 as well.

Before I bought my us general I went in harbor freight. Grabbed heaviest things I could carry, went back to the box I wanted and filled it with the heavy crap. Like stated the top huge drawer has dual ball bearing slides and with a good 80lb in it the thing easily opened and closed.

I have one of the big 40inch craftsman boxes and it is nice but I ll be honest if I didn't get it cheap second hand I would have a harbor freight box. They are super nice. But on the other Hand I have a bluepoint and a mac tool carts I have bought second hand cheap and thats the way to go. Let someone else take the new hit and scratch it first.

I have both the Harbor freight box and the home depot box in my garages. The home depot box is kindof a weak POS but 150 bucks for 40inch 10 drawer box was something I couldn't turn down. I use it for storage because if you actually loaded those drawers with tools they would bend. Get the Harbor freight, they are awesome! even the tool cart is nice

My buddy bought a used Matco 40ish" top and bottom box used for around $1000. It is very nice. I looked for months and never found anything comparable for less than $1900. Went with the 44" HF bottom box and it's been great. I don't feel like there is any significant quality difference. I still need to pick up the top box but the bottom roller has gotten me through the last year or so. I would have gotten the larger box, but no room for it in my 1 car garage.

The only thing I would change is I wish there were 2 more deep drawers in the roller. Make it a 9 drawer instead of 11 with 4 deep drawers and it would be a bit more useful IMO.

I hate small drawers on a tool box, useless and have to open twice as many drawers to find what you need, big drawers and deep drawers are what I like, why have 3 drawers of pliers or wrenches when they will fit in one.

I have my first craftsman tool box in my single car garage at home, fits under the solid core door work bench and is out of the way, where a tall box would be taking up more space.

Well went to Harbor freight and came home with this. I got the whole setup for $670.00. I did not think that was to bad. I think I am going to be real happy with this purchase. I really appreciate all yalls input. It help hearing from real world people. I hate reading reviews that people put on line. Now to start filling it up.

Late to the thread....

But you will be happy with the HF box. All you have to do is pull the drawers out of any of the comparable Husky, Craftsman, or Kobalt box and you'll know you made the right choice.

Nice setup you got there.
