My inner redneck has been crying out for one of these lately. Does anyone have any first hand experience with one ?

I mean big block, camming and 70's paint - white trash love affair !

Are they actual jet drive or just called a jet boat because they speed like a rocket?

Are they not big problematic maintenance nightmares like the jet skis? Shouldn't you just get a big block outboard?

The only jet ski related problem you could have, would be sucking up a rope, or a bunch of weeds etc. in the intake grate on bottom of boat.

What zukimaster said. The V-Drive Big Blocks is where it is at. Stock Or mod..... Or better yet get a Runner-Bottom V-Drive if you want to go fast.....

^^^ Yep! Go ahead with that Ford, spend twice as much, to go twice as slow! :flipoff1: I do have a set of bad ass chrome Bassett headers for a Big Chevy hanging in the shop.

Don't u have to have a mustache and really short swimming shorts to own that boat?? I'd rather swim! :****: that Mofo is ass ugly man. And take to Lanier and get SMOKED by tha big dogs. Piper.. Just stop. Good lord.

There is a lot of good info on the jet boat performance web site. I can tell you from my past experience it takes a lot of $$$$ to make one go fast. The speed is definitely in the pump. I was very lucky to have one of the best boat builders in the country by the name of Jim Youngblood guiding me in the right direction ( Google his name and you will see what I'm talking about ) You can put all the motor you want in a boat but if the pump doesn't have the correct impeller it will be all show and no go. As far as the huge rooster tails you get that from a jetavator as far as a performance helper it isn't it just directs the water from the pump into the air. My opinion a big block is the way to go can't remember but for some reason the cams with a 112 duration works really good in those motors I had a boat similar to the picture you posted that had a 500 cubic inch big block Chevy a Berkeley jg pump with a b impeller the best speed I ever got on gps was 68 In order to get the 90 to 100 mph that I wanted I was about to build a 572 bbc and go to a dominator pump in which was going to be a huge expense I will tell you this they are a lot of maintenance I now have a pickle fork hull with a outboard. You can take it to the lake. Hit the key run a 80 mph for a whole lot less $$$ and work I know the jets are great sounding and fun but a outboard is a lot user friendlier

What is considered super fast? I can't imagine how a boat that small with an engine that big couldn't be considered super fast?

70 is super fast to me!! Haha. No ****. My dad a bassboat similar to the one someome posted. It would scare this piss outta Ya. Had to wear goggles cause Ur eyes would pour water. **** on that. That **** can ER sketchy sooooo fast. But Piper, I have no clue wat river Ur plannin on going in. But if it's anything like the rivers around here I want to be there. I believe y'all's rivers are a little different though.

I think those boats are like the equivalent of a "pro street" drag car with a blown big block and big wide Mickey thompsons... Loud, flashy, attention getter... But not necessarily high performance.

That Malibu was a 20' boat and was pretty heavy as it had a deeper V hull than most. It handled extremely well though.

Was just a basic 454. Would run low 70's on good water.

The jet takes so much out of it. A V-Drive with the same setup would be another 10-15 MPH and get there much faster. Blowing that rooster tail with the jetovater is good times though.
