Church on the Rocks is an outreach ministry to the off road community. Our first event is going to be at Hawk Pride on April 15-16, 2016. Friday we will be riding and hanging out and Saturday morning we will have an amazing race style "race" with three courses. There will be five stops on each course with clues to each point so you can take any route you want to the marker. Most of the markers will be halfway up a trail so folks will actually ride to it. At each marker there will be a puzzle piece to collect and the first rig back with the puzzle completed will win. We are going to have a course for side x sides, one for dual purpose rigs, and one for buggies and extreme rigs. We will also have an area around the pavilion for the family to hang out if they need a break from riding. We will be have inflatable bouncers, face painting, snow cones, free hot dogs, door prizes etc.. Our goal is to have a weekend where folks can bring their family out and have a weekend full of fun eat a few free hot dogs and see an awesome park. I'm working on trophies for the winners, but the "race" is just something fun to promote riding and seeing the park and having fun with friends and family. I wanted to get this on the calendar so folks can have plenty of time to plan. I will update this as I get more details in the coming weeks. Hawk Pride is an awesome park and I think this is going to be a fun weekend with a competition set up so that anybody who wants to try has a shot. And don't let the word Church scare you away, we aren't bringing the organ or the choir and I will probably be dressed in my oily greasy riding pants. If you want to talk about Jesus, cool lets talk, if you don't thats cool to, we can eat hot dogs and talk about my lack of driving skill. email me if you have any questions [email protected]

added to calendar.
Thanks John. And for the record, this is not a fundraiser, not a benefit or anything like that. HPO keeps the money from the weekend and we are covering the food, bouncers, and other stuff from our partners we are working with. My only angle in this is to give people an opportunity to come hang out and ride with their families! So if the wife and kids get tired we want to have stuff for them to do while you guys ride :dblthumb: :dblthumb:

If mine is still together, I'll be there.

Let me caution on having a "race course" open to recreational riders. We did this once at Gray Rock. We had a card we had to get signed at the top of 10 obsticals. I used an air horn to assist clearing the trails of those just riding. It was far from a safe event. We were flying, much of the time in high range, some places there were just too many people, some in rigs, and some outside, to make it safe.

I actually won it and donated the $1,000 back to charity, after getting Tony Cousins and the promoter to each match it. Second place was a minute behind, third place an hour after us. We did the 10 obsticals, all over the park, in 59 minutes.

I appreciate the advice and wholeheartedly agree that a "race course" on an open weekend may present safety concerns. The plan is to scatter 15-20 points (or more) throughout the park and mark them where they will be visible from the trail. Each marker will have something to collect, and once a driver/rig has all the pieces, he will have to assemble them or put them in the correct order. The clues will direct the driver to each location, and if a driver starts on the "green" markers, he will go to all 5 or 6 green markers. In your case, y'all were running for some pretty serious cash, which would make folks push the limit a little more than normal. Luckily for us we don't have much of a budget and most everything is being funded out of our groups pockets or from local churches so we won't have a bunch of cash to make folks push the limits. My goal is to make a trophy and let the winner take it home. My goal is to just get folks out to ride and have a blast, and the "race" seems like a good idea. I think the fact that there are so many different routes at HPO and the size of the park help us reduce safety concerns. Also if anyone has an idea of how to reword it and not be a "race" I'm open for that!!! Thanks for the input John

Now if I can get a vendor to donate a gift card or product, we will let that be the prize for the scale squeezing contest!!! :woot: :woot: I just need Muddinmetal to give me the contest rules, and I will bring the scale and the prize!!!!

This is a great opportunity to bring the whole family out and meet some other Family oriented riders. Like Dan said we can drop the women and children off at the moon bounces and go hit the harder trails. That way you don't have screeching co drivers screaming "we're gonna flip" every time you pull a tire.

I hope folks will come out. In July there was a thread about the Crawl Fort Christ at Disney and folks were saying that they wished there was an event like this in our area........Well, Here ya go!!!
I am trying to get the word out to more places than just Hardline so if you are a member on another forum, share this and attach my contact info! Gonna be a good time!

Already had one club ban me from posting this on event their facesbook page cause it is close to their event. Already had a few clubs commit to bringing out some rigs. If you got any querstions give me a shout. 731-780-7212

Had a great time at Hawk Pride for the Hardline ride! Bring the family and come ride again.

We are getting a bunch of stickers made to give out at the ride. Who don't like stickers right?
