Guys I have an old style Warn 8000lb Stand Up Winch and it has 1 lead for the positive, is this the way it is suppose to be? I took it off of my old bronco but my bronco had a kill switch on it so I just wanted to make sure before i hook it up to my truck.

The belleview he is referring to is just another model, its the grand father of the 8274s. Any pictures? Is the solenoid pack mounted in front of the motor/above the drum?

Either way, most, if not all the old stand up Warn winches ground through the body of the winch. I've had a few 8274s, and all have been a single 1/0 hook up.

You might clean up the mount a little where it bolts to the vehicle, just to give it a good connection.

It also never hurts to run a ground strap/cable from the winch frame if you feel the need.

here it is

I run an 8274 on my company truck.I always run a ground from the battery to the bolt on the back of the starter motor. Best winch for taking abuse IMO. It gets used at least twice a month to pull logs out the road or get my truck unstuck. I've been using it for 15 years and it was old when I got it.

Glad to see you have yours on a 1 ton because that is what I put mine on. Was not sure if had enough balls to pull it out of a mudhole.
