Interested to see some full tube chassis buggies that run the truck intake.

I know pholmann's has one.

Is the visibility awful? Obviously they're not as aesthetically pleasing.

More low end torque, got that part.

What else?

I run the TBSS intake on mine. Engine is low in the chassis and basically in my lap, so no visibility issues. More torque as mentioned and flows a lot of air in comparison to other LS intakes.

Kind of where im at.
Say you buy a cheap fabricated aluminum intake. They look good but performance is no better than truck. If you get a low profile intake you have to change water pump. Get a tall one you dont. But visibility is no better than truck. I want a fast intake but time you buy injectors, water pump fuel rails. You will be 1600 deep in a intake. You should have a lot more choices with you cathedral port heds.

Leave the truck intake better to spend money else where in the motor to make more power.

Who cares what it looks like ?? :****: :woot: :woot:

For 1600 bucks you could stroke it. He already done that?
Turbo?

If so we need a update on the build thread........

I guess I should have prefaced with: I'm more concerned with visibility than looks.

Motor will not be getting torn apart again unless something is wrong.

I am in an odd situation on this one and just weighing options.

Already have a truck intake/ harness with new injectors(not installed) . Harness is not cut/ tuned obviously.

The truck intake isn't really "that" tall. No taller than a carb style intake with an air filter, espcially if you dont run the stock "Vortec" plastic cover) Plus the alternator bracket is tall as ****.

If you want it to look "cool" and less intrusive, consider shaving it. A little dremel work and you got a pretty good looking intake. I think they look damn good smoothed and painted, like a RamJet

Here is one without all the plastic welding required, just smoothed. I'd imagine they would paint pretty well also. Adhesion promoter and some rattle can.

I run a truck intake on my LQ4 6.0L and visibility is just fine. I do run an aftermarket oil pan and that seems to get the engine height down low enough.

I was all concerned about the visibility also.I bought a low aluminum intake and it did not fit perfectly so i had to modify the alternator. Then i realized i never look straight in front of the buggy ,i always look off to the sides.I put the truck intake back on and wished i never messed with it.

You'll gain more visibility with the shorter oil pan because the drivetrain can sit lower in the chassis. There's only a couple inches difference in the car and truck intakes.

Smooth it out or do a sheet metal cover to keep mid off top of motor.
I don't believe the height is as bad as you think it is.
Plus if your motor is pushed back toward you enough and low enough your Line of sight may not even be blocked by intake it may actually be blocked by engine accessories or shock towers. (That's how mine is. It wouldn't have mattered if intake was 6 inches lower)

Dorman makes a more aesthetically pleasing truck intake. I don't know much about, read about it one time on ls1 forums, but I don't remember what I read now.
You could look into it. It may be slightly shorter.

awesome, yeah I am looking into aftermarket pans now

I have one off my LY6 if you are interested.

I'm holding off on buying another intake right now, will probably try to see if the truck stuff will work since I already have upgraded fuel rails and injectors for it.
I appreciate it though.
