Any drone guys in here?

They are definitely addicting. I spent 15 minutes the other day chasing a buzzard..

I used to do that with my Sport Cub RC plane. Those are fun too. Just take a lot more skill to fly and require an actual runway type place to land.

These drones are great because you can take them off and land them anywhere you can get through the trees.

I help a friend out with a small drone biz. They use DJI Phantoms, Inspires, and the Matrice. Got all the FAA certs and such.

They do daily shots on construction sites and sent to corp so the suits can see progress with actually getting dirty at the job site.

They fly job sites and sight in grade and sent to the dozers. Dirt work and get accomplished pretty quick. BIG MONEY JOBS!! special software and such

Pictures of roofs for storm damage claims, insurance stuff. Big roofs suck to climb, scare me, plus hauling a ladder is work. Rather fly the job.

Fly some farms and check fences for damage and count live stock. Can heard a cow or two but not practical, yet!!!

Arial views of local biz. Now they can have pretty picture hanging on wall.

Map city blocks, show fences, alleys, paths to fire hydrants for local fire and police. Help them be more efficient when duty calls.

Bring to trails and amaze your friends, crash, fix, repeat!! Not practical, ever!! But still fun with the older ones collecting dust in garage. I film for beer!!!

The commercial possibilities really are endless. I am surprised more realtors aren't using them.

I am not going to lie, I'd love to scout a particularly rough patch of woods that I know is full or deer with one instead of getting covered in ticks :****:

Absolutely plausible. I can't figure out how to post videos so I'll shoot you a text. Ive been playing with the editing software that is part of the app. Its pretty cool.

We had the lead "drone guy" from our company come down to look at a few of our projects. I had him fly a site I will be working on. There must have been well over 50k worth of drones in the back of that rental Tahoe. One could even cary around a high end Cannon DSLR. He had pads to throw out so he could do a topo survey like LIDAR. For some I can see drones being just another tool in the truck before long.

I love the mavic pro. The modes will be fun in the winter while offroading. I have been practicing at the river (here in havasu).

I absolutely love the portability of the mavic. Seems like the phantom is faster and has longer flight time.

If the weather will cooperate I'll get my buddy to fly one and I'll fly the other and do a little comparison.

Awesome shots btw!

I'm on the fence about getting one. I want one but I really don't have a need for one.

Me either...but they sure are fun.

I like the Mavic for the size but it looks like the 4 pro has a little better obstacle avoidance.

I agree. I just haven't found myself in any situations where I am willing to depend on the sensors. I was showing that feature to someone with the mavic right after I cancelled the return to home and it had somehow turned the OA off. Luckily I was paying attention and didn't just trust it blindly.

I definitely feel like it should be used as an emergency feature and not as a standard "this is how I fly" feature.

One of the few reasons I that I can think of where I "need" a drone is to get pics and video of myself when wheeling. That means I'd be using the follow ,e or spotlight modes from time to time. I'm sure the Mavic is smart enough but the 4 Pro just has those extra sensors, at the price of not being as compact when its stored. Maybe I need a spark to start off with just to see if I would actually use it.

I was just about to pull the trigger on the Mavic Pro and then I saw they are releasing the Platinum later this month. Now I don't know if I want to wait or not.

I haven't seen any specs on it, but I am still really enjoying my mavic pro. I think the spark would be a better choice for the follow me type stuff though.
