I was listening to the ****-show on the radio while working on my 4runner (everyone at work left at lunch, so I pulled my junk into the AC and welded the winch plate on)
Basically all main roads blocked, I 40 closed, wrecks, etc.
Man I was in the "path", straight up semi-night time darkness, weird ambient lighting, full on black-hole-sun eclipse.
I really think that understanding "science" and knowing exactly what to expect took most of the fun/wonder/amazement out of it for me. It was pretty much like "Oh... COOL.. well, Yep. done..."
Kinda like getting on a really "bad ass" roller coaster... I have no control over it, the people who own it have a pretty heavily vested interest in my safety, AND 27,000 other people have already rode that day with zero issues. SNOOZE.
When the next one comes through in 2024, my boy will be almost 9, so I'll probably take him over to the shadow path if he's interested. It's also on a Monday, so we'll probably make a weekend trip out of it.
