Solar Eclipse

Same here....

Now I just wish everyone would get the **** out of my town so I can get home

I was listening to the ****-show on the radio while working on my 4runner (everyone at work left at lunch, so I pulled my junk into the AC and welded the winch plate on)

Basically all main roads blocked, I 40 closed, wrecks, etc.

Man I was in the "path", straight up semi-night time darkness, weird ambient lighting, full on black-hole-sun eclipse.

I really think that understanding "science" and knowing exactly what to expect took most of the fun/wonder/amazement out of it for me. It was pretty much like "Oh... COOL.. well, Yep. done..."

Kinda like getting on a really "bad ass" roller coaster... I have no control over it, the people who own it have a pretty heavily vested interest in my safety, AND 27,000 other people have already rode that day with zero issues. SNOOZE.

When the next one comes through in 2024, my boy will be almost 9, so I'll probably take him over to the shadow path if he's interested. It's also on a Monday, so we'll probably make a weekend trip out of it.

You were probably too busy flexing those bathroom scales to see anything. 8) :p
No bathroom scales for my big ass, freight scales ftw.

My kids loved it, wife and I got to make a cool memory for the kids. Spent 15 minutes leading up to totality, pulling a 3/8 inch long splinter out of my nearly 6 year olds foot.

The Mexican restaurant was ****ing terrible. No margaritas? I asked for authentic spices and got bland dog food quality meat. Fajitas were piss poor.

I am not one to bitch, but the only thing authentic about the whole place was the wet back that didn't understand one thing I told him. My daughter had water and he brought her a coke. I asked for Corona draft with lime, after being told they didn't have margaritas and he brought me a Corona in a bottle with a baby glass, no lime. After my beer was consumed, he brought me a bowl of quartered limes that the kids ate.....that was all they ate.

I'm glad the kids loved it. Definite awesome memories for them.

Drove up to Rock Island State Park to watch the eclipse. Probably the coolest thing I have ever seen

I personally did not take these. A buddy using a big honking camera and zoom lens got them. Kids thought it was great that it was actually dark for a few mins. Well worth the 3.5hr drive one way to see it and them think it was cool. Score 1 for the old man today.
