Too small of diameter hose and you will starve the pump. As pump “pulls” the fuel, you have to replace it with air fast enough to not create a vacuum. Most use the same diameter hose for the fuel pump and the vent

Truckers don’t pay the price on the sign for diesel. Fleet cards get a pretty significant discount. Check out Open Roads - it’s an app for the RV crowd but gets you fleet pricing for diesel by using their card. Usually it’s about 10% (or more) below the price on the sign. Doesn’t work at all...

i have mine on the rail. figure I don’t need to really look at it unless I’m having issues so under the hood seemed to make sense
