    Phase converter???

It does become a bit of a pain, but its kind of a trade off between time and damaged that is caused by the static converters on the motors.

    Wilton Bench Vises

My dad wants a new bench vise for christmas, and I've done some research and settled on Wilton since thier made in the U.S. and their built like a brick **** house. I was wondering if anyone had a line on a good price for these guys, I was hoping to purchase it locally than having it shipped.

    Bolts?

I would say 90% of the time a bolt is used in a shear application, and as an engineer I always *try* to make the bolt the designed failure mode. A bolt is much cheaper and easier to fix/replace than a tab or link or rod-end. On my baja car we use Ti bolts that were 1/4" for all suspension and...

    Bolts?

To answer all your questions and many more you have read this http://www.carrollsmith.com/books/nutsbolts.html Safety wire doesn't take away from the strength of the fastener, and should technically be used in any application where a mechanical locking fastener cannot be used (i.e. nylock).

    Cool tow rig!

It looks like that picture was taken out side of rapid city SD, and if it was you can get away with stuff like that... No problem. After looking at it again, the last car on the trailer has SD plates on it....

    Rolled spline Vs Cut spline

Yeah I read that after I posted that. It makes sense now... Definitely not ideal. I think I would rather have the splines stronger, and the axle act like as the spring its designed to be.

    High speed shocks?

When it comes down to it all shocks are the same, the only differences are the quality in the machining and the quality of the springs used. Talking with Jason Pauly and looking at the insides of Fox's, Walkers, FAO's and SAWs' their all the same. If you can spend the cash to have the piston...

    Unofficial DNR/Reiter Rocky Buggy

Well the schrader valves used in those shocks are good to around 7,000 PSI, and not far about that the bodies will blow. I know you said the logs you will be towing around aren't that "big", but once you incorporate the stress of wheeling, and your winching mechanism and the log your shocks are...

    12 valve burning oil

yeah, its been messed with. The hole missing the bolt usually has a torque sensitive bolt that breaks its head off so its just a round head.

    12 valve burning oil

    12 valve burning oil

Yup, that's the cover I was talking about! Sounds like its still a virgin, or the pump has been serviced and the pump shop put the original fasteners back in. I know Seattle Injector would put the broken bolt back in when we would send pumps down for servicing.
