    HELP! Toyota transmission

i think you would be better off finding a W56, a bit stronger than that old iron boat anchor. i've been out of the loop for a couple years, but i just looked on marlin's site and they've got a VSS that screws into the speedo hole on the t-case...

    Nascar In Wa???

i smell animal beer and pork rinds. i think they should give spokompton a military base and the nascar track, and shut down fort lewis. i'm sick of dealing with "them kinda" inbred **** kickers from texas that keep moving in up here.

    Toyota motor upgrade talk...

because putting 4.88s in and keeping my 300lb 22R was more painless than dropping in a 900lb oil burner.

at least we don't start off in entirely the wrong direction by buying jeeps:flipoff:

    Toyota motor upgrade talk...

i've got a built up hybrid motor in my truck and really have no desire for more juice. sure, a little more low end torque would be nice but that's what gears are for.

    NW fishing

that's a monster golden, and a nice rainbow! i would've put the cutthroat back though, usually they're spawning when they're that color and don't taste too good.

lookin to get some fishing gear

unless you're catching the trout that have been in the lake for a while(holdovers, most lakes are stocked with little guys that are raised on cat food, so they taste like crap) they aren't that great eating. some of the best tasting fish in the lakes around here are perch. they don't get very...

    Cross Over steerng

i get by with 3" of lift. seems to work ok(other than not being aligned or braced at the frame) but it does smack the oil pan when the passenger side compresses every so often. until it leaks i'll run it.

    Holley 5200 vs Weber

holley 5200 is a copy of a weber DFAV. the DFAV is the mirror image of a DGAV(which is the 32/36 that gets sold in all the kits). basically it's the same carb with the primary and secondary barrels reversed. tends to work best on engines with the intake on the right hand side(like a pinto)...

    20R Heads

it'll only bolt on if your engine is an '84 or older 22R(round exhaust ports). you can make it work on an '85 or later engine but you're in for machine work and special parts. by itself it may give some more pop, but i'd recommend taking it to a machine shop and having bigger valves installed...

    22r head replacment

i call BS on that one, unless your torque wrench is a piece of **** or you used a junk gasket.

    22r head replacment

i really wish people would stop spreading down that hearsay BS around...a 20R head doesn't crank up your compression. here's my advise for doing this job. clean, clean clean! you want the deck of the block and the underside of the head as clean as you can get. i like using a rigid blade...

Auto Parts - OEM or Parts Store?

i usually hit the parts slinger except for head gaskets, generally i go to the dealer for those. of course, there's the dealer-only parts too.

an open letter to the 4x4 community

  just looking at most of the "wheelers" around my area tells me otherwise. most have stopped giving a damn about the rules and conservation. i believe that most of us here are the "few", and that the problem is the larger segment of people. i feel there should be some...

    Weber on 20R Q

ditto. i've got more money into my 22RE and it's a turd compared to the old school 20/22 in my yellow truck... i did a little looking into megasquirt as well as SDS and several other standalone EFI systems. mainly because i wanted to be different, not necessarily the most practical. out of...

    Weber on 20R Q

i have a weber on my 20/22 motor and it works just fine. the stock carb was a worthless untunable POS that ran leaner than **** for my engine.

    Question for IceHawk

it's a year specific thing. earlier trucks used a steel bearing hub with a replaceable bearing that you pressed on, and had 2 cheesy clips that hold everything on the fork. the later ones(late 80s and beyond i think) had the unit bearing with an integral wire clip and polymer hub. the whole...

    20R oil pressure Q

they don't take a lot of pressure to keep alive, probably one of the reasons they last so long. i'd like to say mine with 300,000 miles on it idled at around 5-10 depending on the temp, and went between 60-80 under load.
