If the motor was drained and you just re-filled the radiator, you need to pull the hose on the top of the pump and manually fill the motor as well. At least on my 6.0, the pump will not pull from the radiator without putting fluid in the motor first. Never had to do this on older engines, but...

Anyone ever do it? Even worth the welding wire and time? I figured I would weld the side gears to the center gear and then install that into the 2 carrier halves and weld that up solid and just keep it around for a spare. Going to try a Yukon locker this time around.

The gears went in without a case spreader about 2 years ago. I think the Detroit being unloaded may have something to do with it.
