    Flats Off-road park closed

I sure hope there is a chance of it reopening at some point in the future. That place is only about 2 hrs from my house, and I loved it.

    Electric trucks

I have zero interest in an electric truck until it is costs the same as a diesel truck, can tow ALL day without stopping to charge, and can be recharged anywhere within minutes just like a diesel truck can be refueled in minutes. I figure we are at least 10 years, and possibly even 20+ years...

New Truck Tires...You pick em POLL

I solve that by mounting them myself, and just taking them to the tire store for balancing.

    Diabetes and Kids

I remember that she told me it was close to Christmas, so maybe early-mid December. She told me that she was initially feeling sorry for herself while laying there in the hospital, and her mother told her that some kids in the hospital were not going to get to go home for Christmas. My son...

    Diabetes and Kids

My wife has type 1. She got it at 10 yrs old. Similar story to others with being thirsty and then spending a few days or more in the hospital with crazy high blood sugar. She is 42 yrs old now, and doing fine. She works hard to take good care of herself and keep it under control. She can...

What would you use for an "overlander/weekend warrior"

I used to wheel a full size Bronco, and I think true full size trucks are just too wide (the body) for trail riding. For what you are describing, I would look at a 4th generation (03-09) 4 runner with the V8. You won't be able to buy it and build it for $10k though.

What tire pressue do you run?

I used to run 4-5 psi in my 34" LTB's on my Samurai. I was running 15x8 reversed center wheels.

Roaring Fork Motor Nature trail. It is paved, but awesome. Lots of hiking opportunities off that road.

Has the jeep market declined over the past few years?

I'm not sure if you are talking about built Jeeps or Jeeps in general, or buggies, but I think I am noticing the same thing lately. I will be in the market for a TJ in the near future (once my shed is built so I can fit the Jeep in the garage) to put the set of tons and Atlas in that are...

    Buggy measurments? Wb, belly height.

There was a thread somewhere a while back where I saved what seemed to be the most popular setup. It was 20" belly, 114" wheelbase, 14" shocks up front, 14-16" shocks in rear figuring the typical 39-42" tire sizes. I just started building a Samurai based buggy. I'm scaling those numbers down...

Did I miss the memo about housing builds skyrocketing?

There is a HUGE variation between houses $$$/sqft depending on the quality. We had a house built about 3 yrs ago on a lot we already owned. It was about $150-$155/sqft for the house, but it is brick, stone, and everything(windows, kitchen cabinets, granite, hardwood floors, lights, etc) is...

    women and puking

I am LMAO at some of the responses in this thread! I rarely ever puke anymore. I don't think I have puked in several years or more. It doesn't bother me though. I used to puke regularly back in my drinking days. My wife pukes a lot. She gets bad coughing fits when she has chest colds...

Anyone have any advice on how you tell your wife she needs cooking classes?

Tell her there is a cooking thread on one of the 4x4 sites you frequent and some of the guys are raving about how good some of the recipes are from the Costco cookbook series. Order it off Amazon and tell her you want to cook some of the recipes for/with her. My wife cooked a lot from these...

    Smittybilt Winches

I have been running an XRC8 with rope on my Samurai for about 5 years now. Works every time I go to use it. Never had a problem. It was CRAZY hard to free spool when new, which I read was a common problem. The fix is to clean out the super thick glue like grease and replace it with a...

    How long will they go?

The previous owner had installed a fuel pressure gauge. I was actually on my way home from buying a 5.0 engine for my cab truck when I noticed the gauge was on zero. I turned the key off and on while still rolling down the interstate, and the pressure returned. I had to do that numerous times...

    How long will they go?

2001 Dodge Ram CTD with NV4500 I bought the truck in 2006 with 165,000 miles. It currently has 236,000 miles. Here is the parts replacement history: Item Cost Date Notes...

Spinoff: Things we hate about pop culture.

I have to second or third the SlutLife stickers on cars and trucks 5 hours from the beach. On that same note, the OBX license plates on the front of cars and trucks 5 hrs from the beach also bother me. I have been wanting to get a custom one made with random letters like TMF or something...
