Running gear is all original XJ stuff, though some of it has had a few basic upgrades. Totally stock XJ, 4.0L I6, AW4 transmission, NP231 transfer case with SYE, HP Dana 30 re-geared to 4.88 with a Detroit up front and Dana 44 also re-geared and with a Detroit in the rear. I
I know the assembler torqued all those bolts down to spec, since I did it myself. Course, the assembler also has no clue what he is doing, since again I did it myself. :eeek:
And ya, it has those little bridge things; I take it that's not normal? This is the first engine I have ever taken apart.
Ok, well we found that the oil pressure relief valve was stuck open, which we fixed. We where then able to prime the pump and get the engine running, we drove it out of the shop in order to start the cam shaft brake in, however the oil pressure quickly fell from 45-50 PSI to about 16-18 PSI...
Well, I packed it full of vasaline, an still can't get it to prime. Only thing I can think of is to get a more powerful drill.
and like Karl said, the timeing chain cover, oil pump gears, oil filter adapter, oil filter, and pick-up tube are all new.
Well, I lost the cable that connects my camera to my computer, and was to busy to track down a new one, so the pictures are WAY late. But here they are at last.

I made a trip up to Toms on Monday to try and get the Cherokee ready for this weekend. The carpeting that we pulled out went strait into the dumpster, so I decided to put a coat of that

Oh, well either way I figure his stiffeners saved me a couple hours work, for what I paid for them they are defiantly worth it. :awesomework:
Progress at last!
Started the weekend with Tom finally finishing all the welding from the firewall back, welding the original sheet metal to the tube took a really long time, but this should be one stiff Cherokee. :awesomework:
Also the grab handles I made for my wife and I are now welded...
