I have this style of coupler....it's very nice. You can lower the trailer without have to worry about lifting the pin etc. But it is self locking.. If you try to life the trailer it just makes it tighter unless you pull the release first...

not sure how much pony power you have, I have a E8248 pump mounted below the tank. Then running the walbro pickups in each corner with hard line....works ver well, but more complex to make than the hyrdramat.

mine has the chain style above....works well for the camper, I dont use it on the open car trailer. Biggest tip is jack the trailer up once the ball is connected, then set the WD bars.....allows you to actually get preload with having to muscle the bars.
