    No seals, just a spindle bushing which is why a torn boot will water and dirt in and can get all the way to the hub bearings and chew them up. This seal will prevent dirt and water from getting into the hub bearings...

    I’d say the switch/controller may have a broken wire on the load side or some other issue in the controller since you’ve established it works when you cut the controller out of the circuit

    Yeah then I’d say you’re correct, the IH had the Texas bolt pattern

    It may be an IH 300 out of a scout. They only put them in for the 1980 scout II’s so it’s a rare bird for sure if that is indeed what you have. I’ve got one from a scout I junked years ago back at home, I can check and see what the output looks like when I get back this weekend.
