I have 3/8 & 1/2" Snap-on click type that I've been using for 15yrs. I have a Proto 3/4" click, and a 3/8 Snap-on Torqometer for checking rolling resistance and such. Usually send them in every 5yrs for a recal.
A series parallel switch with quick connects would be cool but just added weight and cost for as you said, something rarely used. On an overland rig it would probably be worth it.
If the solenoids aren't clicking there isn't any reason to jump to the motor. You need to test the solenoids. Try disconnecting the solenoid wiring and jumping power straight to them while they are powered and closed, test the resistance between the 2 large posts. It may help to know exactly...
I single 5/16-18 lifting eye is good for 1200lbs. when threaded into steel or with a nut. I'd say that a lifting plate with 4 proper length bolts, even in aluminum would handle a fully dressed engine & trans just fine.
I usually switch out to regular snap rings after I've spread the stock one too many times. I'll look tomorrow AM when I get to the shop what size I've been using.
I have 3 Toyota wheelers, 1- 22r 1-22re 1-Vortec 4.3 all with duals and 5.29 toy axles and 38-40" tires. While the 4.3 is fun to beat on if I had to do it over again I don't think I'd bother. It really doesn't go anywhere the 4cyl truck won't go and I have a lot more money into it. I actually...
If you do the 4.3/th350 make sure to go 23 spline in the cases and use a rcv output. I was breaking tcase parts pretty often with mine. Toy axles are fine unless you go full retard often. Stick with 4.10's and you'll be able to beat it pretty good. Mine has 5.29's on 38.5/15 cut boggers and I...
