Standard transmission in a rock buggy?

The only issue I ever had with my t18 was the gear spread. Trail riding up the long hills in a place like Harlan or Windrock it would either be screaming in 2nd, or lugging down in 3rd trying to keep up the pace. For crawling it was great. Drop the clutch and steer. I gave it up for an aw4...

How much does your rig weigh?

Nothing special. Just going to retube the stock Eaton housing with 3.5" tubes, driver drop, super duty outers, 1550 shafts. I've got pretty much all the parts except for the shafts and seals, just haven't decided to get stated yet.

How much does your rig weigh?

Yep. Someday I'll get around to building a front as well.

How much does your rig weigh?

4313 without me in it. 4540 when I'm in the seat. 4.0, aw4, d300, 60/ho72. I was fully expecting 4500lbs so seeing 4300 was a nice surprise, as was the balance.

    YJ Build...just a little different.

Late to the conversation on motors, but if you are still running the 904 trans, you've got what you need to bolt up with any of the 60° Chevy v6 options. The modern engines from the camaro or impala 3.9l (and others I'm sure) make good power, and they can't be any heavier than your boat anchor...

    4 link front jeep tj

Looks like an easy 10° on each link in Tim's rig. x4=40.

Can you not use the lower holes in the axle side upper link mounts?

    Mid level yj build

Looking good. Nothing better than a nice yj build imo. I'll toss you 1 suggestion. Unless you are planning to direct some air for defrosters, I'd ditch the factory heater system. Removing that box makes anything you need to do behind the dash so much easier. I also pulled the intake duct and...

    Re-venge YJ Tons Swap

Yeah, it's a lot of extra work clearing the way for more up travel in front.

    Enclosed trailer/Toy Hauler Conversion

Yeah, my door was made the full height of the trailer (even with the added height) so if I eventually get an awning it'll just need to be mounted behind the door.

    Enclosed trailer/Toy Hauler Conversion

Nice work on the camper. I was much more basic on mine as I skipped the bathroom and appliances. I will install a sink eventually, and I'm going to pick up a fridge/ freezer, but nothing that will be a permanent install. I just needed a warm/ cool place to sleep on wheeling trips not a fully...

    Cheap carrier bearing

Mine is similar, but I bought the machined down 14 bolt pinion from Jimmy Penner. It mounts through an f250 carrier bearing. I've been running it for a couple years now. So far so good.

    Line Locks

I've been running one of these in my jeep for over 15 years. Works great, holds pressure. The price has gone up over the years. I think I paid $125 for mine back in the day...

    '48 Willys CJ-2a build

I wouldn't change a thing on the body of that jeep. Maybe something to protect it and keep it looking the same. Go nuts on the mechanical side to make it drivable/reliable. Like others mentioned, I think I'm just too tall for a flat fender. I rode in a buddy's MB and I was looking over the top...

    Parking brake

I've got a mico lever lock in my jeep. Been running that for my parking brake since I swapped in d44s, so 16-17 years now. It basically holds the pedal down, but only on the rear axle. Works great. I've had it hold pressure for months at a time at various points over the years. They are a bit...

    Head lights

I found some rectangle 4x6 lights for my yj when I cut up the front. Either Amazon or eBay. They have a T pattern low beam and full high beam. Plugged into my existing headlight plug but would be easy enough to custom wire to a switch, I just left the headlight harness in place. Mounted on a...

    Trail Camera

Used the camera all weekend at AOP. Still working well, and I'm getting better at using what the camera gives me to point the rig. Here's another shot I grabbed this weekend of what I can see, vs what the camera shows me.

    Trail Camera

All good still. No issues. I figure as long as you can mount it were they don't get crushed you should be good.

To roset or not roset. That is the question.

Enough that I don't have to worry about hitting my head. Lol I've got about 5" over my head when I wear a helmet.
