So i bought myself a money pit

this is the condition of it when i picked it up last week, its a 98 tacoma 3.4l auto with 423,000 miles on the original engine, and it drives like it just rolled out of the factory, minus the fact that its life was prematurely ended by a maple tree. but hell the ***les clean

the next day was spent stripping the cab i took it down far enough all i had left was what i needed to drive it into the shop before the swap

got most of what i need out of it and picked up a 97 cab

unloading it and off with the old and in with the new

tim gettin work done

new cab goin on

the last cab got into a front end collision with a tree so i need to take out the old/new core support

getting more work done

not quite sure yet im tossing around the idea of a fully linked sas, fox 2.0 air shocks with dual, 5.29s and a trail gear rock assault front housing or a Chaos fab long travel front and a four linked rear... the rig would be a DD/wheeler. i want the reliability of a solid axle with the comfort of and ifs.

on a different note i got the fuel lines hooked back up, the master cylinder swapped out and got rid of the ABS bull**** that didnt come with my frame. also started marking out lines for my half doors and put in my A/C condensor (F*ck you tim for saying its a waist of time :fawkdancesmiley: i love cold air). I would have gotten more done but it seems like the only time i can actually accomplish something is on the weekend

So i gave up on workign on this thing during the weekdays. i cant get motivated to turn wrenches after just doing it for 8 hours, so i have been waiting for the weekends to roll around and i can put some decent time in. last weekend i was pretty pissed when i found out i had to swap my cab wiring harness, well got that put in then put my dash in to find out that the dash bar that came with the new cab wont bolt up to my interior so i had to pull it all out again. also decided on full size axles a buddy of mine has a driver side drop 44 that is free for the taking .

you mentioned that you were still gona use this as your DD, one thing you might want to check is DD with the TG 4 link....when i talked to TG a while back they told me that you can't DD their 4 link kit with fox 2.0 because it was too soft for handling on the road.. i never planned on using my rig on the road but thats the info they put out to me...im not saying that this is a fact this is just what they told me.

ya i heard that to i was planning on running some gnarly sway bars with some quick disconnects to hopefully solve this.

plans changed first off, sorry i havent been keeping this updated, pretty much is as it was on the last update, except i had a few beers and wheeled it on the property and dented the bed up..... plans changed with the taco cause of money issues, even tho i got a good paying job the cash just dissapears
But i can say this thing will be bigger and badder in some ways:awesomework::awesomework:

I picked this beast up for a great price and have been trying to sell it but the damned thing wont sell i started at 3K and now im down to 1,500 plus trade, and i said f*ck it time for a drivetrain swap to the TACO

As fate would have it my wife was driving up the hill in the suburban without letting it warm up and it stalled out and rolled backwards, hitting a tree, knocking over a telephone junction box, smashing a mail box and finally landing into a ditch, bending the frame, she's fine. with this happening its almost like it was meant to be, ill throw up some photos of the accident once i upload them and im pulling the TACO down tonight to start pulling the engine, tranny and transfer case
