Re: 6.0 or alum 5.3

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure GM never made a full aluminum 5.3. A LQ9 engine code 6.0 is all aluminum. A LQ4 6.0 is a cast block.

L33 was a 5.3 all-alum.

Re: 6.0 or alum 5.3

Have a low milage alum 5.3 front wheel drive (compact)

Re: 6.0 or alum 5.3

L33
The L33 (VIN code "B") is an aluminum block version of the LM7, and was referred to as the Vortec 5300 HO in marketing materials. Power increased by 15 hp (11 kW), to 310 hp (230 kW), over the LM7, and torque was unchanged. It was only available on extended cab 4WD pickup trucks. Only 25% of trucks made in 2005 had the L33 engine.

L33 applications:

2005-2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4WD
2005-2007 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD

LQ9 and LQ4 are both iron block. The only 6.0 all aluminum is LS2.

Re: 6.0 or alum 5.3

LQ9's are cast block also, just higher compression ratio and more hp. HO version of LQ4. They don't put AL blocks in the trucks, except the SUV models of L33. If you want AL block you need a car motor.
