High idle ??

Ok so i have an 88 xj i was told that the tps sensor was not working. so i replaced the tps sensor and the idle control sensor also. Well it worked for starting up but as it runs or warms up the idle comes up with it. (it comes up to about 2000)

Any ideas??thanks

4.OL im guessing. try cleaning the tbody plate with a old tooth or teeth brush. depending on where you are from and pull the idle air control valve out and clean inspect or replace. depending on fundage... this is kinda a comon problem.. and let me know if that works..

iv done every thing you said ive had the tb off and cleaned well.

check for vac leaks.

Not familliar with this setup but is the TPS and IAC adjustable? If so did you adjust them when you put them in?

not sure about the IAC but the TPS is i have it turned as far back as i could get it.

i think it needs to be set. that could be the problem.

but rember it idles about 800 when i start it cold and then when it runs for only a min or less it starts reving up to about 2000

I have a smoke machine we can check for vacum leaks the right way.

could it be the coolant temp sensor? telling the motor its cold?

You need to adjust your TPS.

yes in still in orting... if its an 88 you can scan/flash it for codes and it will tell you if a coolant sensor is miss reading or tps is out of range.

theres a set range where it needs to be to work properly. if its wrong it WILL affect the idle

so the tps and the idle control. are in there limits. so i was also thinking could it be the fule pressure regulator. dont they act up as then get hot.or cold ??
