The bypass is on the side of the trans with a tube and 2 banjo bolts. It is there to warm the trans faster, but when power is added it bypasses because of the increase in pressure directly related to the increase in power and makes the trans run hot (making it grenade). If you block this it will shift firmer when cold and not warm up as fast. Drive by trans temp gauge its usually the reason an auto trans doesn't last when towing. Trans temps seem to be the highest when towing on slow going gravel roads while towing into the mountians. The lockup switch will help this from happening if used correctly.
If your going to tune it I like the edge evolution tuner and manual gages. The evolution really wakes up a 7.3 (as much as they are able without major mods). Get the bypass tube block off kit for the banjo bolts on the side of the trans. It prevents the trans from grenading quickly. If you put a trans temp gauge on it after tuning you will see what I am talking about.
