If a guy was to buy a set of 42" Iroks is there a big difference between the sticky and nonsticky? I know the difference of the rubber and all that but does it make it worth it around here? Whats your guys take?

Yes, there is a difference. Scott (Boxboy) has the sticky Irok and likes them. I have no opinion......and if anyone else does, they are probably full of ****.

If you want a sticky tire, just get a BFG.

Well I got a line on a set of 5 Iroks that are not sticky... with a set of 4 TR rims. I just wanted to know if im gona need a sticky for KOH or will a regular Irok work? It comes down to money really.

all top cars had stickys BFGs of some sort. top one was the desert krawler but has the sticky tread compound so yeah id say stickeys are needed for koh if you want to win or even have a decent chance to win.

from watching the first one and being present at the second one, id say the race was won or lost in the rocks. im holding out for BFGs:cool:

$.02

I never thought sticky tires could make such a differance until I got some BFGs. They improve capabilitly in all area's. Not just climming but also side hilling and go down the step stuff also. Worth every dime IMO. Wow I would never go back.

If scott chimes in he will probly say its a love/hate relationship he has with his tires.

What size wheels are they? If you can get them cheap it might be worth it to run them until you can get a set of stickys and put them on the beadlocks.

Irocs for snow wheeling (non stickys) and bfg for everything else.

But you don't have to listen to me I just ride *****.

Once you get a true stickey (BFG) tire, you will never want to go back. They surpass a regular tire in all areas except for snow and DEEEEEP mud. The stickey IROKs seem to work better than regular IROKS but its not a night and day difference like with a Krawler.

I have never ran a non-sticky IROK but the stick irok is a good tire but the wet dirt/mud to rock transitions suck hard. If you have dry roots, rock, and dirt they are as good as any stick crawler and much better then non-sticky tires. But the sticky Irok is no sticky(foam) Krawler!

I have rim locks but I blow inner beads all the time (ever time out wheeling) so I am forced to run more air pressure or I need to get double bead locks I have heard this is not just an issue with the sticky Irok. It seems my tires cut way easy and I have a couple side wall holes with plugs :puke:

The Irok is theoly sticky tire I have ever ran but it is better then the TSL MTR's I had in the past it is the best tire I have ever ran.

I would not run a Irok stick or nonstick for KOH the side walls are way to soft and with the higher speeds you will just shred the Iroks. I would go with a different tire even a 40" MTR would be better.

So I ended up buying the 5 (99%) Iroks on the 4 powder coated TR beadlock 17" rims. The tires and wheels only have 3 runs on them. I could not pass it up for $2250. I can use the rims forever and I can get a set of sticky Krawlers later. Thats the plan anyway. :awesomework: Really thanks for all the advice.
