I replaced my thermostat and cleaned up my throttle plate. Now the Jeep idles perfectly. But another strange thing is occurring now.

Whenever I am slowing to a stop, the Jeep does not idle until I am at a complete stop. It sits at about 1000 to 1100 until it stops. If I start rolling again without giving it any gas, the revs go back up to 1000. Even at 1/2 a MPH this happens.

It's not adversely affecting anything, just find it strange.

Any ideas?

Is this a 4.0 or 2.5L

The 2.5 has a high idle when the vehicle is moving in order to keep the power steering pump up to pressure until the vehicle comes to a stop...or something like that. There is a sensor in the power steering hose.

2.5L

That may be it.

Disconnect the negative for about 15 minutes.

re-connect and start it up, let it run until it reaches operating temp. turn it off and it should be good.
