Seems I only get an hour or two a month to work on this thing. At this rate, I might have it a roller 30 years from now... Gotta say it felt pretty damn good getting this hunk of **** out of there: Hours and hours of grinding later, I had both frame rails somewhat cleaned up a bit both inside and out as well as underneath. I played a bit with fitment of the 14 and where it wants to sit. Steering has been on my mind for a while now and after looking today, brings a question... I've searched a bit but not finding exactly what I'm looking for. Does anybody know if I can swap a reverse rotation worm drive into my steering box? If so, from what? I know for full box replacement, a Chevy Astro will work, as will a Toyota but forget which off hand, and I am pretty sure the JK box will also work. Needs to be inside the frame and forward facing. I just don't think I can get the 14 far enough forward to run moderate tires and clear the rear fender without moving pitman arm to forward location. Keeping it low at this point is going to be very difficult. That 14 is huge. Getting the crossmember out helped a ton but oil pan, radiator, crank pulley, etc., etc.... We'll see... So got the pitman arm pulled which allowed me to get the axle up where it wants to be. This is position I hope to keep it in overall. It's tight and getting the up travel I want is going to be a challenge to say the least.
