That should be a good truck. I also just purchased an 02 F-250. The good thing about the 02 models is that they have a D60 front and not and D50. My truck has 250K on it. It is a cc4wd. I have a 6.0L aftercooler, cold air, 4" exhaust and a Tony Wildman 6 position chip. It gets about 17.5 mpg around town and got 16.0 or so mpg towing the my 5k lb Jeep, heavy trailer and a bed full of camping junk to Morris Mt. this past weekend. I can not complain one bit about the power with stock injectors. I am very concerned about my trans. though. I installed bigger coolers and also run a deep derale pan with them fancy tubes through it to help cool. I ran about 170* max while towing this weekend. Looking to upgrade the converter soon! I work on diesel engine for a living and like the 7.3 and 5.9 engines. I currently would not want a newer diesel offered by the big 3 due to restrictions on the engine to meet emissions.
